The second part of this episodicFF7remake is set to release in February 2024, with plenty of anticipation behind its release. Square Enix has been showing off plenty of details regarding this game, such asthe Chocobo Farming mechanics inRebirthalong with its open-world and battle mechanics. Part of the game’s story has also been detailed by Square Enix, which is set to include Zack Fair.

InFinal Fantasy 7, Zack dies a hero before he arrives in Midgar, protecting Cloud in the process. This scene is the crux of Cloud’s characterization in the original game, which was also depicted in the prequel,Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7.Final Fantasy 7 Remake, however, sees Zack Fair surviving his tragic fate, and he is set to play a major role inFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirthas a result. The director ofRebirth, Naoki Hamaguchi, teases that Zack Fair won’t be the only character from related spin-offs that players will get to see in the game.

Inan interview with TechRaptor and Hamaguchi, the director was asked a few questions about the story, specificallyZack Fair’s expanded role inRebirth. According to Hamaguchi, Zack will play a bigger role inRebirthcompared to the original, which is whyCrisis Coregot a remake in 2022 to help familiarize new players with his character. Hamaguchi states that besides Zack, there are going to be other characters fromFinal Fantasy 7spin-offs who will be appearing inRebirth, though he was careful not to be specific about who would appear.

Without again providing any major spoilers, besides Zack, who was not in the originalFinal Fantasy VIIbut will be making an appearance here, there’s going to be other characters fromFFVIIspinoffs that will be appearing inRebirthas well.

Considering thatDeepground is present inFinal Fantasy 7 Remake’sIntergradeDLC, there is a high chance that fans will get to see the organization and its associated antagonists inRebirth. TheCompilation of Final Fantasy 7had teased that there was something big going on between Genesis and Deepground, but the plot threads were never resolved after the release ofCrisis Core. With the upcoming release ofRebirth, many believe additions like this can help tie the overall narrative together in a cohesive way, along with being nice nods to the expanded universe.
