The Royal Rumble 2020 pay-per-view event saw both a men’s and women’sRoyal Rumble match. Drew McIntyre defied the odds to stand tall as the winner of the men’s Rumble, while Charlotte Flair added yet another accomplishment to her Hall of Fame worthy career by winning the women’s match. Now on the 29-07-2025 episode of Raw, we will find out which champion each one will challenge at WrestleMania 36 in April.
It seems likely that Drew McIntyre will choose to face off against Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania, as McIntyre eliminated current-WWE Champion Brock Lesnar from the Rumble match. As for Charlotte, it seems like she is on a collision course with Becky Lynch at WrestleMania, but it’s possible she will shock everyone and challenge WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion Bayley instead.
Besides McIntyre and Flair announcing their WrestleMania plans,WWE Rawon 23-05-2025 will also see the next step in the ongoing feud between Bobby Lashley, Lana, Rusev, and Liv Morgan. Lashley and Rusev have been banned from the ringside area tonight, letting Lana and Liv Morgan settle the score in a one-on-one match.
Of course, many fans will be tuning in to WWE Raw tonight with the hopes of seeing more of the returning Edge. Edge returned at the Royal Rumble after a nine year absence, and in doing so proved that he can still hang with the younger wrestlers. Edge’s performance in the Rumble match was impressive, and while he hasn’t been announced for tonight’s Raw, it would be surprising if he didn’t make some kind of appearance.
The Road to WrestleMania begins tonight. This post will be updated with live results of WWE Raw as they happen on the USA Network.
1. Handicap Match: Drew McIntyre vs. The OC
Winner:Drew McIntyre. While seeing The OC buried in such a way would usually be disappointing, their stock has fallen so dramatically in the WWE that it didn’t really matter here. The purpose was to make Drew look like an even bigger threat, and it did that perfectly. McIntyre beat The OC definitively, and even slumped Karl Anderson over Luke Gallows to get the pinfall victory. McIntyre declared that he would be facingBrock Lesnarat WrestleMania for the WWE Championship, and that prompted Lesnar and Heyman to come to the ring and lay McIntyre out.
Grade:B-
2. MVP vs. Rey Mysterio
Winner:Rey Mysterio. While all of the attention has been given toEdge’s Royal Rumble return, MVP’s return was also pretty shocking. It seems MVP may be more permanent in WWE than previously believed, as he was featured in a singles match against Mysterio and was shown to be competitive. The match was pretty good; MVP and Mysterio have always had great chemistry in the ring. MVP hit the Ball’n elbow drop, which was nice since Lesnar prevented him from doing that at the Rumble. The finish was pretty clever, with MVP moving out of the way of a 619, only for Mysterio to follow through and still nail him in the back. Mysterio then finished MVP off with a springboard splash to the back.
Grade:B+
3. Aleister Black vs. Kenneth Johnson
Winner:Aleister Black. Johnson put up a little more effort than other jobbers on Raw, but Black still finished him off pretty quickly with the Black Mass.
Grade:C
4. Raw Tag Team Championship Match: Buddy Murphy and Seth Rollins (c) vs. Kevin Owens and Samoa Joe
Winners:Buddy Murphy and Seth Rollins. This was a solid match, with everyone getting their stuff in and looking good. Things really picked up in the finish, with Owens nailing Murphy with a Swanton Bomb and nearly getting the win. Owens also scored a near-fall on Rollins by hitting him with a Pop-Up Powerbomb. Murphy was given some solid offense as well, hitting Owens with a devastating knee that set him up perfectly for Rollins' Curb Stomp on the apron that helped them beatThe Viking Raiderslast week. Owens dodged the attack, but his Stunner attempts were countered and Murphy managed to roll him up to retain the titles. It was nice to see Murphy get the pin here, as he is the one that can really be elevated by this entire program.
5. United States Championship Match: Andrade (c) w/ Zelina Vega vs. Humberto Carrillo
Winner:Humberto Carrillo. Carrillo and Andrade work great together, and the match was plenty of exciting with the added angle of the US title being on the online. There was one instance where Carrillo missed an enziguri by a mile, but the crowd still stayed in the match. It looked as though Carrillo was going to win the match, butZelina Vegainterfered, getting Andrade disqualified but helping him retain his championship. After the match, Carrillo continued to attack Andrade, DDT-ing him on exposed concrete as revenge. Since Carrillo was taken out for weeks from this, it’s possible that Andrade may be disappearing from TV for awhile as well, which could have an impact on the United States Championship picture.
Grade:B
6. Asuka w/ Kairi Sane vs. Charlotte Flair
Winner:Charlotte. There was a general sloppiness to this match, and Charlotte not actually declaring her WrestleMania intentions was a bit of a letdown. The finish was well-executed, though. Charlotte gotAsukain the Figure Eight, but Kairi Sane came off the top with an elbow drop to break up the submission and give Charlotte the disqualification victory.
Grade:C+
7. 24/7 Championship Match: Mojo Rawley (c) w/ Riddick Moss vs. No Way Jose
Winner:Mojo Rawley. No Way Jose segments are just complete filler at this point. Rawley made quick work of him to retain his title, and then introduced his new protector Riddick Moss. When the match was over, one of No Way Jose’s partiers came into the ring and rolled Rawley up to win the24/7 Championship. It was revealed that the partier was actually R-Truth in disguise, though he was attacked by Rawley who won the title right back.
Grade:C-
8. Lana vs. Liv Morgan
Winner:Liv Morgan. Yikes. This match was sloppy and the crowd was dead for it. There were also some very noticeable botches, with Liv completely missing a punch. Liv ended up getting the win with a flatliner-style move off the second rope. Considering how much Liv’s return was hyped, it’s been pretty disappointing so far.
Grade:D
9. Randy Orton Attacked Edge
Edge explained his return to the crowd, but was interrupted by Randy Orton. Orton proposed a Rated-RKO reunion, but then suddenly turned on Edge and laid him out with an RKO, possibly re-injuring his neck. Orton then hit Edge with a steel chair, finishing him off with Edge’s old Conchairto move and possibly putting the Rated-R Superstar back on the shelf in the process.
