TheWrath of the Lich Kinglogo was discovered just weeks after Blizzard sent a survey to its community inquiring about the frigid expansion, and how likely they would be to play it. The survey also asked about faction balance in play, leading some to wonder ifWorld of Warcraftmight add the cross-faction playcoming in Patch 9.2.5 to theClassicservers as well.
World of Warcraftis preparing to announce its ninth expansionpack on April 19th. Many players believe Blizzard may announceWrath of the Lich King Classicin tandem with the expansion announcement. It has been less than a year sinceBurning Crusade Classicwas released, and there was a 2-year gap between it andWoW Classic. IfWrath of the Lich King Classicwere to launch sometime this year, it could signal a much faster cycle forClassicexpansion re-releases.
World of Warcraftfans hopeWrath of the Lich King Classiccould be on the way.Wrath of the Lich Kingis one of the most belovedWorld of Warcraftexpansions as it closed many plot threads fromWarcraft 3. Arthas is one of themost recognizable and popular villains inWarcrafthistory, and revisiting the atmospheric continent of Northrend could be a boon for the declining population ofClassic WoW.
Of course, manyWorld of Warcraftplayers are bored withClassic. WhileClassicwas originally released for fans to experience theWoWof a previous, nostalgic era,Blizzard is simply rehashing contentat the end of the day. Many fans are wondering whatWoWwill do when it runs out of content to put intoClassic, especially if the cycle speeds up. However, for the time being, the venerable MMORPG has plenty of content to revisit, and as long asWarcraftplayers enjoy it, Blizzard will likely keepClassicup and running.
