The Ruby Sanctum is a four-boss raid introduced near the end ofWrath of the Lich King. Though not nearly as large as majorWrath of the Lich Kingraids like Icecrown Citadelor Ulduar, the Ruby Sanctum was still memorable, and set up some of the big conflicts against the Black and Twilight Dragonflights that would come to a head duringCataclysm.
Now, in arecentWorld of Warcraftblog post,Blizzard has confirmed when players can expect this mini-raid to come to the throwback servers. Starting January 11, players will be able to challenge the 10- and 25-man versions of the Ruby Sanctum. These encounters drop gear of the same level as Icecrown Citadel, giving players even more opportunities to find their best-in-slot items as the expansion nears its end.
When Does the Ruby Sanctum Open in WoW: WotLK Classic?
Within the Ruby Sanctum, players will have to face Saviana Ragefire, Baltharus the Warborn, General Zarithrian, and Halion to clear the instance. The Twilight dragon Halion is voiced by Matt Mercer–a famous voice actor who also voices Fyrakk, another dragon andend raid boss inWorld of Warcraft: Dragonflight. The raid is generally considered to be easier than the Lich King, so farming it will be a great way for players to help their progression against the iconic boss.
One of the most exciting things about the Ruby Sanctum’s release is that it heralds the coming ofCataclysmtoClassic. While the expansion doesn’t have a release date yet,World of WarcraftconfirmedCataclysm Classicwas plannedfor the first half of 2024. Considering mostWrath of the Lich Kingpatches have had four to five months between them, players could expectCataclysmto arrive as early as May, if not sooner.
That said, not everyone is excited about the idea ofCataclysm Classic. One of the major draws ofWorld of Warcraft Classicis to experience Azeroth before the revamp introduced inCataclysm. With theWoW Classicprogression moving pastWrath of the Lich King, the only way to experience a pre-CataclysmAzeroth will be throughClassicEra–a fact many are not happy about. At the very least, with howpopularWorld of Warcraft ClassicSeason of Discoveryand Hardcore servers have been, players still have plenty of options through these retro servers.
