However, one new accessibility feature found intheWorld of Warcraft: The War Withinbetais on the interface side of things. Called “Show Silhouette When Obstructed,” this visual toggle highlights the character’s silhouette as a dark shadow if they are blocked by certain objects in the world. Using this option, players will be able to keep track of their characters more easily while traveling through bushes, trees, or other similar items.

Show Silhouette Option in WoW: The War Within

Right now, this feature doesn’t seem to highlight characters through bosses, NPCs, or other players, so it won’t help much in crowded areas unless they add this functionality later. It also does not help with walls, as they obstruct the camera and push the field of vision in front of it. The feature seems finicky about what exactly it works with, but it generally seems to show the silhouette through plants, signs, and most environmental objects like fountains, fences, and the corners of buildings.

Either way, most players agree this new option is a universal win forWorld of Warcraft. Few things are more annoying than losing track of one’s character in a thicket, or being hit by an AoE because of the set dressing of a boss fight arena, so this option should help fans avoid these frustrations. While many wish it worked for somebosses inWorld of Warcraft, whose large sizes can easily obscure player models, this toggle is still a major win all around.

More Useful Features Are Coming With The War Within

This isn’t the only quality-of-life feature coming inThe War Within.World of Warcraftis also adding a toggle to hide standard queststhey have completed on other characters, removing the mini-map clutter on alt characters. Players can expect these features and more inThe War WithinPre-Patch, which will likely arrive around a month beforeWorld of Warcraft: The War Withinon August 26.
