World of Warcraftis about to make unlocking Allied Races way easier in the next update forDragonflight. With almost every requirement being removed from them,World of Warcraftplayers can soon make characters of any Allied Race with little effort.
Blizzard recently revealed Patch 10.1.5,Fractures in Time, in a blog post detailing the future ofDragonflight. Once the content update arrives in a couple of months, it will bring some excellent features toWorld of Warcraft, including a third specialization for the Evoker class, a time-bending mega-dungeon, and quality-of-life changes to flying.

Another feature coming inDragonflight’snext update involves Allied Races–special player options that previously required players to fulfill multiple prerequisites in order to play them. Once Patch 10.1.5 drops, players will no longer have to complete any achievements in order to unlock any Allied Races. Additionally, the level requirement for unlocking the recruitment quests for these races has been reduced from 50 to 40. This means players can unlock every Allied Race on their faction as soon as they hit level 40, without needing to complete anyLegionorBattle for Azerothachievements.
When they were first introduced toWorld of Warcraft, Allied Races were much harder to unlock. Players originally needed to increase their reputation to Exalted with specific factions before being able to play as each Allied Race.World of Warcraftremoved thereputation requirement for unlocking these races inShadowlands, making the process significantly less time-consuming.
Most players are glad to see the requirements for unlocking Allied Races largely removed. While these races were originally a trophy to reward players who put in the work, they have been in the game for a long time now, so letting everyone play them without having to grind old content is widely considered to be a wise decision.
Some players have a few concerns about making these races so easy to unlock, however. In general, Allied Races have some of the strongest racials in the game–while someolder racial abilities inWorld of Warcraftquite strong, others simply can’t compare. This makes some fans worried their fellow players will feel compelled to use these new races once they unlock them purely because of this. Luckily, even the strongest racial ability ultimately has a small impact on the game–but many fans hopeWorld of Warcraftwill revisit some less-exciting abilities from old races to even the playing field all the same.
