Recently,The Sims 4released a road map to show all the things the developer has planned for the coming months. The newest Kit,Courtyard Oasis, debuted and has had pretty positive reactions fromThe Simscommunity, though the overall opinion on Kits is still a mixed bag. When Kits were first announced, the developer explained that they’re meant to be small, bite-sized pieces of content between pack releases. With this in mind, it made sense thatThe Sims 4’s newest game pack would be revealed sometime soon, but not immediately.

However,The Simsdevelopers had different plans, immediately teasing and revealing the new game pack,Dream Home Decorator, right after the release ofCourtyard Oasis. The social media posts on Twitter and Instagram heavily hinted at an interior design-themed game pack, which makes sense considering the road map teased a brand new career-oriented game pack. As exciting as this new game pack may seem, this concept has also been tackled before inThe Simsthanks toThe Sims 3: Ambitionsexpansion pack.

The Sims 3: Ambitions’ Architectural Design Profession

Ambitionswas the second expansion packreleased forThe Sims 3and introduced players to more expanded jobs as well as brand new profession choices. Professions are active careers where players can follow their Sims to work, as opposed to rabbit holes where the Sim disappears and then returns hours later when work is over. One of the professions introduced inAmbitionswas Architectural Design, though it definitely functioned more like interior decoration.

The game would offer players’ Sims different jobs based on the story progression of the town around them. If a different household recently had a child, they couldask the Architectural Design Simto come design a nursery for the new addition to the family. A lot of the time, the traits of the Sim asking for the renovation play into what they commission the player’s Sim to add to the home. Players would be scored based on how well they completed the renovation and if they stayed on budget.

The Sims 4: Dream Home Decorator Game Pack

WithThe Sims 4already having active careers, it was only a matter of time until the interior design career path made another appearance. It actuallyfirst debuted inThe Sims 2: FreeTimeas a new career, but it wasn’t nearly as in-depth or involved as the profession inThe Sims 3: Ambitions. Now, the reveal trailer forThe Sims 4: Dream Home Decoratorgame pack shows how in-depth and detailed the interior designer career can be.

There seem to be tons of new furniture for players to use in their own builds as well as remodels of different townie’s homes. Players will have to question the clients to figure out what their likes and dislikes are before creating what is (hopefully) the room the client always wanted.Just like inThe Sims 3: Ambitions, players will have to try to remain on budget for the renovation, with the trailer even noting that going over would affect the Sim’s professional reputation.

Besides the content of the pack itself, there’s no doubt that there will be at least one base game update to prepare forDream Home Decorator. The trailer seems to tease some items that players can look forward to, likean update to the bunk bedswhere other things will slot underneath them, not just other beds. A much-requested update that would have fit in nicely withDream Home Decoratorwould be the addition of a color wheel, but that seems to be absent from the trailer.

Hopefully,The Sims 4: Dream Home Decoratorwill feel reminiscent ofThe Sims 3: Ambitions’Architectural Designer profession without feeling like a carbon copy. So far, the styles revealed seem vastly different from those explored inThe Sims 3: Ambitions, but players will have to wait until the pack is outto really get a feel for howthe new career will function inThe Sims 4.

The Sims 4: Dream Home Decoratorreleases June 1 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
