The last few years have been filled with several new video game announcements, but many of them have yet to come to fruition. For one reason or another, games likeThe Elder Scrolls 6andKnights of the Old Republic Remakehave been radio silentfor years, with the bare minimum when it comes to meaningful updates. This is unfortunately indicative of a larger trend throughout the gaming industry, as it’s becoming more commonplace for a new title to get a flashy reveal trailer and then fall into obscurity to the point that many fans think it’s been canceled. Monolith Studios’Wonder Womangame is one such example of a game that has dropped off the radar.
Announced in 2021, Monolith’sWonder Womangame was a pleasant surprise for fans of the iconic DC hero. At the time of its reveal, it was reported to be an open-world adventure that would utilize Monolith’s revolutionary Nemesis System that rose to prominence inMiddle-earth: Shadow of Mordor. Almost two years have passed since that announcement, and excited fans just have the same reveal trailer to watch on loop as there hasn’t been a substantial update since. Luckily, there may be reason to believe that Monolith plans to share more details on theWonder Womangame in the not-too-distant future.

Wonder Woman Potential Concept Art Leaks
After almost two years of no new content forWonder Woman, fans may have been treated to some new artwork courtesy ofa Monolith developer. A few weeks ago, a particular Monolith developer updated their social media with a banner image featuring never-before-seen art of Wonder Woman and a duo of other characters. It’s currently unconfirmed if this is official concept art from theWonder Womangame, but if it is, it could be an encouraging sign that the game is moving along quite nicely.
To say that game development takes a long time would be an understatement, but in recent years, there’s been an upward trend of development taking much longer than it ever has. What it boils down to is the fact that games are bigger than they’ve ever been before, and even with sometimes hundreds of developers, an open-world game can only come together so quickly. It’s part of the reason why sequels likeTheLegend of Zelda: Tears of the KingdomandMarvel’s Spider-Man 2took so long to follow their previous installments, andWonder Womanhas had the challenge of following an arguably premature reveal.
The fact that the concept art ofWonder Womanmay exist is the greatest indication that there may be news in the near future. Though it’s possibly the farthest thing from the finished product, having a fully realizedvision for theWonder Womangameprovides some sense of direction. Considering the position of the developer with this art on their social media, it’s also clear this isn’t someone who accidentally stumbled upon unfinished artwork. If a senior developer is willing to showcase this concept art on their social media, then there may be hope thatWonder Womanhasn’t fallen completely into the infamous development hell.
DC has experienced a handful of gaming-related struggles as of late, andWonder Woman’s dormancy isn’t even the worst of it. After the lackluster reception ofGotham Knightsand thecontroversies surroundingSuicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, the comic company’s gaming reputation could use a push in the right direction. An update onWonder Womancould be just the thing to set things in the right direction, and hopefully, this concept art is a sign of things to come. After two years, fans are overdue for aWonder Womanupdate.
