Fans ofPersona 5could be in for another new spin-off title if recent rumors and a new domain registration are any indications. TheJapanese domain for P5T.jpwas recently registered, but without any publicly available ownership, it’s unclear who this domain actually belongs to. However, developer Atlus has a history of using this naming convention for itsPersonagames when registering its online domains, leading fans of the series to speculate that a new spin-off entry could be in the works alongside the developer’s other rumored projects.
Persona 5is no stranger to receiving spin-off titles as the popular entry in the series has seen games likePersona 5: Dancing in StarlightandPersona 5 Strikers,as well as the enhanced version of the original gamePersona 5 Royalrelease in recent years. Additionally, the series is also getting the mobile titlePersona 5: The Phantom X,which debuted in a closed beta exclusive to China in late March of this year. While it seems like Atlus has a lot on its plate with the rumors of aPersona 3remake incoming alongside the development of the next mainline entry in thePersonaseries, it’s entirely possible the developer is not yet done withPersona 5spin-offs.

P5T Could Hint at a Global Release for Persona 5: The Phantom X
Persona 5: The Phantom Xmay have just had its first closed beta, but the game was first announced back in April 2021 under the working titleCode Name: X. The game is being developed by Black Wings Game Studio and published by Perfect World Games with heavy input from Sega and Atlus, and has so far only been announced for release in China. While it hasn’t been announced for a global release, it’s possible that the P5T domain could be Atlus' way of preparing for an announcement of a launch outside of China.
While this domain could be a hint towardsPersona 5: The Phantom X’s worldwide release, it would make more sense to register the P5X domain to align with the rest of the game’s branding if that were the case. However, it is possible that the game will be localized with a different title for different regions that would justify the P5T domain name. Many fans are hopeful thatPersona 5: The Phantom Xwill be released in other regions as the game looks to deliver an experience on par with the originalPersona 5, only in a mobile format featuring a host of new characters and dungeons.

P5T Could Be an Unannounced Game
WithPersona 5: The Phantom Xseeming to conflict with the branding implications of P5T, it’s also very possible that the domain name is in reference to an unannouncedPersona 5spin-off title. The “T” in the domain suggests the title could bePersona 5 Tacticsand feature gameplay similar to anotherShin Megami Tenseispin-off series,Devil Survivor. With the popularity of tactics games likeFire Emblemand the existing fan-favoritePersona 5cast, a game of a similar caliber featuring thePersona 5crew seems like a smash hit in the making.
Rather, there is also the distinct possibility that this domain registration is not related toPersona 5or Atlusin any way since there is no way to verify the owner. It’s also possible that Atlus registered the domain but not for any specific new title and only with the intention of sitting on the domain so that others can’t use it, as Atlus has done before with domains like P5B, P5U, and P5M which never saw anything come from their registration. Until something official comes from Atlus, fans can only speculate whether morePersona 5content is really in the works.
Persona 5 Royalis available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
