After some recent leaks from credibleDragon Ballreporter, Dragon Ball Hype, it seems very likely that the firstDragon Ball Z: KakarotDLC will adapt the events of theGods of the Universe Saga. This has a lot of exciting implications for both the DLC itself as well as the Season Pass which until recently has remained quite mysterious. If the Gods of the Universe Saga truly will be adapted, then that answers a lot of questions fans had about the enigmatic season pass and what they could expect fromDBZ: Kmoving forward.
For those unaware,Dragon Ball Z: Kakarotlaunched alongside a season pass which was said to contain “2 Original Story Episodes” and “1 New Story Arc.” At the time, not many knew what that meant, and even still it isn’t entirely clear what is intended to be a story episode rather than a story arc, but fans know a lot more now than before. The leaked picture of the tree from Beerus' home world indicates that at the very least the first half of the Gods of the Universe Saga will be adapted, but possibly even the second half involving Golden Frieza will be as well.

DBZ: Kakarot Season Pass - 1 New Story Arc
It seems most likely that the new Gods of the Universe Saga will fill the role of the new story arc being added with the season pass, but there is still some digging to be done here. Technically speaking, the Gods of the Universe Saga is made up of two parts,Battle of the GodsandResurrection F, so some fans are left to wonder just how far into this saga CyberConnect2 plans to go. Some insight on this can be gathered based on how these movies are classified and the wayDragon Ball Z: Kakarothandled sagas thus far.
Most fans tend to think ofDragon Ball Zas being split into four main sagas: The Saiyan Saga, Frieza Saga, Cell Saga, and Buu Sagas, each named after the main antagonist of the story. In reality, though, these names refer to groups of mini-sagas, which inDragon Ball Z: Kakarotmanifested as story episodes.The Cell Saga, for example, is made up of the Android Saga, the Imperfect Cell Saga, the Perfect Cell Saga, and the Cell Games Saga. The Gods of the Universe Group could be viewed in a simlar way, as perhaps each movie actually comprises one or more episodes of the arc.
It would be somewhat strange to adapt only half of the arc in what would end up being a rather short DLC, and leaving players with only Goku having access to God Ki and never seeing Super Saiyan Blue would certainly be a disappointment. Due to this, it seems likely that both portions of the arc will be adapted, meaning fans should get to face off against bothBeerus and Golden Friezaand should end up unlocking the mighty Super Saiyan Blue form for both Goku and Vegeta.

DBZ: Kakarot Season Pass - 2 Original Story Episodes
Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot’s season pass also promised 2 original story episodes along with the new story arc. This portion of the Season Pass remains as wreathed in mystery as ever, but again there is some information that can be used to build a solid prediction. Given that these story episodes are marked as “original story episodes,” they should not simply be the episodes which make up the new arc, but rather something completely separate. Being original stories, they could theoretically be anything, but it is more likely that CyberConnect2 decides towork with some of the original contentthey already have introduced.
In terms of original material inDragon Ball Z: Kakarot, the biggest highlights would be Bonyu, a former member of the Ginyu Force, and the appearance of previously non-canon characters such as Android 21, Mira, and Towa. Beyond this, there is also a lot of original material in sub-stories which help the world feel more organic by bringing back characters fromDragon Balllike Eighter and Nam to the attention of fans. Any number of these things could be explored for original story episodes in the upcomingSeason Pass forDBZ: Kakarot.
Although Mira and Towa are theoretically canon now, the very nature of their characters dictates that they must be in some way due to the multiverses they travel, and ifDragon Ball Z: Kakarotuses them for DLC purposes, it will most likely be to create aDragon Ball: GTDLC. Android 21 certainly makes for an interesting opportunity to help explore the poorly handled story ofDragon Ball FighterZ, but this wouldn’t be that original. It seems most likely that the new story episodes will focus around Bonyu, the only truly original character inDragon Ball Z: Kakarot, who most fans found themselves wanting to be more than a punching bag to reach level 250.
Playable Characters in DBZ: Kakarot’s DLC
Naturally, one of the more exciting aspects of the DLC is the possibility of more playable characters being introduced. While it may be possible that characters that were previously purely support or non-combatants at all such as Krillin and Master Roshi will be made playable, there is nothing to back this up yet. That said, data forBeerus and Whis as playable charactershas been found within the game already, leading some fans to believe that they may be usable during intermissions. The same could be true for Golden Frieza, even, although that seems far less likely.
Dragon Ball Z: Kakarothas done wonders for fans of the franchise by faithfully recreating characters, scenes, and battles like no otherDragon Ball Zgame has ever done before. Unfortunately, this DLC will probably be the last major story add-on coming to the game, since these movies mark the official end ofDragon Ball Z. TheirDragon Ball Superadaptations and the sagas which follow will likely never appear inDragon Ball Z: Kakarot, but that does not mean that there is no chance that fans may seeDragon Ball Super: Kakarotin the future.
