Pal designs range from the small, cute, and adorable creatures that can be mistaken for plush dolls to gargantuan and imposing monsters that can easily destroy and devour would-be adventurers with their sharp teeth, gaping maw, and cutting claws.
Then there arePal designs that are just plain weird. From silly caricatures that are inspired by real-life animals to bizarre humanoids that come uncomfortably close to being creepy, here are some of the weirdest Pal designs one can encounter inPalworld.
8Sibelyx
A Rather Tall, Slender Silhouette of a Lady
At first glance, it’s hard to tell whatSibelyxis. Its outline makes it look like a humanoid creature that’s wearing a summer hat that is too large for its head, and the surprisingly elegant-looking dress with overtly long sleeves is also quite eye-catching. However, Sibelyx is missing some legs and is often seen floating in the wild at a slow but deliberate pace. What makes Sibelyx’s design weird is its summer hat. As an Ice-type Pal that lives in a particularly cold and snowy habitat, the summer hat seems out of place. This huge hat also hides its face, adding a bit of mystery and menace, especially when battling its mini-boss variant.
While Sibelyx’s appearance might be odd, it is one of thestronger Ice-type PalsinPalworld. It possesses strong Ice attacks like Iceberg, Cryst Breath, and Blizzard Spike while also having some type coverage in Spirit Flame and Aqua Burst, which are good against Grass-types and Fire-types, respectively.
7Leezpunk
A Streetwear-Conscious Ruffian
Leezpunkis a reptilian-looking Pal that has a peculiar design. First off, Leezpunk stands up on its two legs, making it look like a human from a distance. It also seems to wear a hoodie, but in reality, that is part of its skin. The yellow mohawk on its head is actually its crest, and it also has yellow spikes that run down its body all the way to its tail.
Its Paldeck entry also documents how this Pal strives tobe as stylish as possibleand is often looking for the coolest pose to imitate. It would appear Leezpunk is the developers’ take on a street culture-inspired Pal, and for the most part, it does look fashionable. On the punk side, Leezpunk are often part of raiding groups that will try to deface a player’s base alongside Incineram. This can be seen as the Pal showcasing its rebellious, punkish nature.
6Tocotoco
A Highly Explosive Toucan-Dodo Hybrid
Tocotoco’s design is a curious one. It is a Neutral-type Pal that resembles a cross between a dodo bird and a toucan in real life but has striking coloration on its crest, beak, and body. But what makesTocotocoa weird design is not its physical appearance but rather its moveset.
Much like the dodo bird, Tocotoco does not fly and instead runs towards its assailants. While it does have conventional attacks like Air Cannon and Power Shot, the Tocotoco has two signature attacks in Implode and Megaton Implode. As their names suggest, these two attacks make Tocotoco run up to their target and explode for massive damage but at the cost of them becoming incapacitated. Tocotoco are also known to raid player bases in groups in the hope of blowing the place sky-high withtheir explosive attacks.
5Dumud
The Derpy Lovechild of a Mudskipper and a Blobfish
Dumudis a Ground-Type Pal that has a peculiar design. It is made to look like a cross between a mudskipper and a blobfish. This results in a Pal that looks derpy but is oddly endearing in a “it’s so ugly, I love it” sort of way. Its expression alludes to either constant pain or confusion, making the design even more unusual.
Its Paldeck entry mentions that when Dumud becomes too relaxed, its general awareness significantly becomes low. Its unawareness is so severe that it doesn’t even realize when it has suffered mortal wounds and doesn’t register pain until days after its injury has been inflicted.
4Gumoss
An Amorphous Blob That Resembles Tree Sap
One of the staples in monster-collecting games is having one monster that looks like a blob or gelatinous in nature. InPalworld, their blob-like monster equivalent isGumoss. Players encounter this Palearly in the game, and its design is like a slug or snail that’s wearing the top part of a seedling or an acorn. Its body is blob-like, and it has a vacant stare with its beady eyes, making it look docile, which it is.
In the wild, Gumoss typically minds its own business, only retaliating when it is attacked. As far as moves, it has a good spread of Ground and Grass-type attacks like Stone Blast, Seed Machine Gun, and Sand Tornado. For players who want an early Grass/Ground-type Pal, Gumoss is a decent first option for type coverage.
3Maraith
A Creepy No-Face Harbinger of Evil
Palworld’s Pal designs generally aren’t considered to be scary. One exception is Maraith, a Dark-type Pal that has one of the more terrifying designs in the game.Maraithresembles a masticore-like creature with its thick black mane and its sharp pointy feet. Its most striking feature is its face, which is pale and white while lacking any discernible features, making it look like a white mask.
Its green-colored eyes and ethereal flames on its head and wings serve to ramp up the scary factor. Maraith canonly be encountered at night, and while its black body is hard to see in the dark, its flaming head and wings can be seen from a mile away. Players can also craft a saddle for it, which allows them to mount Maraith and fly around the map.
2Hangyu
A Sentient Rope with a Chilling Backstory
As its name implies,Hangyuis a Pal that is shaped like a rope. This ominous design coincides with this Ground-type Pal’s Paldeck entry, which states that its appendages are actually its arms, and it’s extremely powerful. This seemingly innocuous design choice has a sinister twist: Hangyu were reportedly used as a means to execute criminals by constricting their necks in public squares as a cruel form of punishment.
Given that Hangyu can also float in the air for some reason, players can use them as a glider when they are part of the team. They just need to craft Hangyu’s Gloves to do so. But given its chilling history, players might be better offusing conventional glidersor even flying mounts instead and keeping Hangyu in their base or in the Pal Box.
1Lovander
A Slightly Too-Raunchily Designed Bipedal Salamander
Palworldis no stranger when it comes to designing humanoid Pals. But while there are some amazing and elegant-looking ones, there are some that are just creepy and borderline scandalous. TakeLovander, for example.This Neutral-type Palis designed rather provocatively compared to other humanoid-type Pals. They are tall, lizard-like Pals that stand on their hind legs, and they have very shapely yet uncomfortable figures.
According to the Paldeck entry, Lovander is always looking for a night of love and will chase anyone throughout the night until they catch their quarry, with breeding being the end goal. Their targets do not stop with fellow Lovanders; they are known to chase humans as well. Lovanders are exceptionally hard Pals to incapacitate, especially during base raids, where a herd of them can take out many a player’s base if they are caught off-guard.
