As previously mentioned, several Warner Bros.-owned franchises have posted tweets that all depict the same thing: their main characters are missing. Accounts fromTom & Jerry,Looney Tunesand others have posted still frames with their characters edited out, leaving obvious silhouettes in their wake. Each tweet asks where their protagonists have gone off to, and each tags WB Games at the end. While this not only essentially confirms thatMultiversusis real, it also reveals several roster spots and indicates a full reveal is very likely in the near future.

While a few old-school cartoons will certainly be represented in the platform fighter,Multiversusis expected to span much, much wider. According to notableSuper Smash Bros.player Hungrybox, who leaked a partialMultiversusroster screenshot,Multiversuswill include characters likeThe Lord of the Rings' Gandalf, Finn and Jake fromAdventure Time, and Shaggy fromScooby-Doo. A number of DC Comics characters are expected to be selectable fighters as well, including Batman, Harley Quinn, Superman, and Wonder Woman. The screenshot has since been taken via a copyright claim, indirectly confirming the image as real.

WhileMultiversusis certainly an exciting prospect, it isn’t the only crossover platform fighter trying to emulate the success ofSuper Smash Bros.Nickelodeon All-Star Brawllaunched recently, featuring an expansive cast encompassing Nickelodeon’s various eras. Some of the game’s fighters includeThe Wild Thornberry’s Nigel Thornberry, Aang fromAvatar: The Last Airbender, and Helga Pataki fromHey Arnold!Although there are countless comparisons to each other, there arefundamental differences betweenNickelodeon All-Star BrawlandSuperSmash Bros., and this will likely be the same case forMultiversus.

With the obviously coordinated marketing effort behind the Warner Bros. properties, its only a matter of time before gamers find out more about the franchise-blending platform fighter. In fact, there are already rumors of post-launch content for the game, withLeBron James believed to be DLC.
