Apparentlu,Left 4 Dead 3was originally supposed to be an open-world game crawling with zombies and other potentialLeft 4 Deadspinoffs. Along with that reveal, the video also showed an RPG that fans had never seen before.

According to the documentary, Valve was working on a video game project that the company’s fans did not know about before the video came out. The project, simply codenamed RPG, was reported to never have left the conceptual stage of production. However, the documentary showed that the RPG project was inspired by games such asThe Elder Scrolls, Dark Souls, andMonster Hunter. The company envisioned that the game would be released gradually, continually adding new content for players to work through, but that never got off the group and Valve ended up canceling the project.
Even though Valve canceled the project, the company tried to salvage the project and repurpose the concept. The video game company tried to experiment with the concept, thinking of different ways to use this idea. One of the ideas that Valve tried was making the game into a single-player RPG.
The game would have been based on the story of aDOTAcharacter named Axe. However, this idea was also shelved, and the concept of this game was never returned to. While this potential game was brought up in the Valve documentary, the company has said nothing else in relation to the canceled project.
With so many canceled projects being unearthed inValve’s documentary, fans may have hope that some of these games may see the light of day. However, it appears these games have been laid to rest. These may foreshadow elements that Valve may include in future games, but it seems unlikely that the company will be coming out with this specific title.
