Summary
AValheimplayer has recently shared a video showcasing the moment when their base was destroyed by the recent Ashlands update. While most gamers had their bases unaffected by the latest update, someValheimplayers who built their strongholds near the southern edges of the map were surprised by their destruction after the new Ashlands biome appeared.
Released in early access in 2021,Valheimis one of the most popular survival games in recent history. Despite still being an early access release, the Norse-inspired game managed to sell over 12 million units on Steam, becoming one of the biggest indie hits on the platform. Starting last year,Valheimalso became available on Xbox Game Pass.

Now, aValhemplayer called Throne– shared their base’s last moments in the game. In the 38-second clip shared by the gamer on r/Valheim, it’s possible to see a big construction made of stone. When the action starts, the floor below the base is already destroyed, but the structure is still resisting. Then, it slowly falls into pieces until Throne–’s work is completely destroyed.
Clip of Valheim Player’s Base Getting Destroyed By Ashlands Update
While the bases of most players inValheimwere unaffected by the recent update, the developers had already warned gamers not to build on the southern edges of the map before the implementation of the Ashlands update, as pointed out by commenters in Throne–’s post. What some gamers were not sure about was how far from the world’s edges they needed to build, as even some long-time players revealed in the comments that it’s currently impossible to know the exact area affected by the changes toValheim’s new Ashlands biomebefore they start.
Released on May 14,Valheim’s Ashlands updatebrought over 30 new weapons, more monsters, over 70 buildable items, crafting materials, mechanics, and more. More importantly, the update added a whole new region on the southern edges ofValheim’s world. The Ashlands is a volcanic region filled with undead and other dangerous creatures. It has ancient fortresses, boiling hot water near its entrances, and even cinder rain.
It’s likely that as time passes, gamers will start building bases in the new Ashlands biome. Despite it being a dangerous region, players are used to makingamazing bases inValheim, so it’s probable that some brave explorers will try out innovative ideas in the new region. Hopefully, Throne– will be able to build another house inValheimsoon, perhaps further away from the dangerous Ashlands.
