Persona 5is easily one of the most popular JRPGs of all time, but as of writing the game is only available to owners of the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3.Persona 5 Royal, the updated and expanded re-release, takes this a step further by being a PlayStation 4 exclusive, but this state of affairs may not be permanent. The official Atlus Twitter account recently made a post that appears to hint at potential PC and Nintendo Switch ports forPersona 5 Royal.
The post is an announcement that Atlus-O-Weenie, a costume content fans can enter in order to receive one of six prize packs, is returning this year. Participants can submit images of themselves dressed as any Atlus character for a chance to win games,merchandise from thePersonaseries, and other exclusive rewards. However, the original version of the rules featured a startling additional prize: one digital code for Persona 5 Royal on either PS4, PC, or Nintendo Switch.

The possibility ofPersona 5 Royalmaking its way to the Switchand other non-PlayStation consoles appears to be enough to make fans take notice. However, it’s also possible that this post was nothing more than the typo the official Atlus Twitter account is currently trying to pass it off as. As a rule, all leaks should be taken with a grain of salt.
It may be that someone simply copy-pasted the information incorrectly, but the fact remains thatPersona 5is a modern classic RPG. Many fans would be pleased to see it making the leap onto other platforms, particularly in its expanded edition. ThePersonafranchise’s sister series,Shin Megami Tensei, has recently brought the previously PlayStation exclusive titleShin Megami Tensei 3: Nocturneto the Nintendo Switch, so aPersona 5 RoyalSwitch port wouldn’t be unprecedented.
As of writing, it appears that many fans are enthusiastic about the possibility ofPersona 5 Royalcoming to new platforms, though many are not necessarily convinced it will be happening soon. One user replied by expressing their doubts but noted that if the leak was genuine, Atlus could consider the Switch port pre-ordered the second it went up. Another admitted they were certain this leak was a typo but begged Atlus to release ports anyway.Shin Megami TenseiandPersonaare very different seriesdespite having similar roots, so one making the leap to Nintendo Switch doesn’t guarantee the other will as well.
