SinceTiny Tina’s Wonderlandswas released late last month, fans have been finding all kinds of different Easter eggs embedded in missions and characters. One of the newestEaster egg finds in Gearbox’s latest projectinvolves the popular animated television show from the 1990s,Street Sharks.
For those who may not have caught the cartoon near the turn of the 21st century,Street Sharksfeatured genetically modified half-human, half-shark crime fighters that were created by a couple of scientists at a university laboratory. In total, there was a quartet of these hero sharks and each one had a different color so that viewers could tell them apart. Now one fan has found out that Gearbox stuck an homage to the show intoTiny Tina’s Wonderlands.

The user, ObjectiveEnthusiasm4, asked the RedditWonderlandscommunity if they had noticed that theTiny Tina’s WonderlandsEaster egg popped upin one particular mission in the game that involved Seawargs. Seawargs are creatures in the game that are gigantic shark creatures that also have muscular, human-looking biceps that end with clawed hands.
The Reddit user noticed that in the mission, “Raiders of the Lost Shark” the color patterns of the Seawargs reminded them ofStreet Sharks. Once the user also realized that the quest reward was the Street Sharks' catchphrase, “Jawesome,” they were convinced it was indeed a reference to the cartoon. It’s worth pointing out that “Raiders of the Lost Shark” appears to offer at least two Easter eggs for the price of one as the mission is thought to also be a reference toIndiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark.
After the original post, there were more than a few users on the social media site who said they had noticed the same stuff and had been thinking that the similarities were in the game on purpose. Other users pointed out it was quite similar to theTeenage Mutant Ninja TurtlesEaster egg inBorderlands 2. Of course, users also noted thatStreet Sharksare much more niche characters than the turtles.
Gearbox developers apparently had quite a bit of fun slipping these kinds of Easter eggs all overTiny Tina’s Wonderlands, as the Seawargs are far from the only nod to other games, movies, and television shows. Among the many other references that people have noticed while playing through the fantasy world that stands out is an Easter egg aimed atThe Witcherfranchise.
Tiny Tina’s Wonderlandsis available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
