Thor: Love and Thunderhas a big cast, but it’s not like there are many members that the audience could call main stars. There are four obvious choices, with four others being important but also falling more by the wayside.

This formula can be found in a lot ofMarvelmovies, with the main cast of four being surrounded by a tight grouping of supporters. Who among the stars made the cut, and why are they worth highlighting inThor: Love and Thunder? Are there any secret cameos worth highlighting? There will be no major spoilers in this breakdown of where these characters fall.
8Starlord
Starlord and his fellowGuardians of the Galaxyare not in the movie much. So, he’s not truly a member of the main cast. However, Starlord does deserve a mention here because he sets some things up for Thor’s goals in the movie. In the beginning, Thor is a bit forlorn and doesn’t know what to do with his life. That’s when Starlord tells him he needs to find love with someone or a group of people to feel bad about. The basic lesson Starlord is trying to teach Thor is that it’s okay to feel this way rather than feel nothing at all.
7Axl
Axl is Heimdall’s son which should be a surprise to every member of the audience. They might wonder when Heimdall has time to make a son, and no, he does not have onein the mythology. Axl, like Starlord, does not have a huge presence inThor: Love and Thunder, but he plays an important role. He helps keep his fellow kidnapped kids enthused while they wait for Thor to rescue them. Thor teaches Axl how to use the eyesight that he inherited from his father. Also, a quick shoutout to Axl for choosing his nickname based on Guns N’ Roses and how that band is all over this movie.
6Korg
Korg is a steadfast ally to Thor in this movie. Everyone is funny inThor: Love and Thunder, but Korg is essentially there as the comic relief. His chill attitude is what sold audiences on himinThor Ragnarok, and fans won’t be disappointed by his bluntness again in this film.

Like most of the jokes inThor: Love and Thunder, they are not as great asThor Ragnarokoverall. This includes Korg as a character as well. Still, the big rock monster does have his moments, like when he finds his volcano mate in the end.
5Zeus
It has been a minute since Russel Crowe was in a big film. While his character, Zeus, is not in it for long, he chews up the scenery well. It’s unknown whether he is doing a terrible Greek accent on purpose to make his character funnier or if he can’t do the accent at all. Either way, it helps make Zeus a highlight inThor: Love and Thunder. The costume is also great, including the little skirt he wears and lifts as he descends from his throne. This will surely not be the last time audiences see Zeus in a Marvel movie whichthe end creditsmade sure of.
4Gorr
Christian Bale put his mark on the superhero film genre when he played Batman. Now, he gets a chance to play a villainous role viaGorr the God Butcher. That alone is a great name for a character, and it says exactly what he is. Gorr, having been betrayed by his god, swears to kill every last one of them, from all religions, to avenge his daughter. While he’s doing it in the worst way possible via an evil sword, it’s also easy to sympathize with his journey. Maybe the gods should answer for ignoring the cries of their people for so long.
3Valkyrie
Valkyrie has not had much to do in the Marvel films since she became the king of New Asgard. She seems to love her job and her people though. However, it’s also easy to tell she is itchy to get her hands bloody once again.

It’s great watching her bloodlust get controlled by either Thor or Jane, especially in the city of gods. Her plans usually involve a lot of killing, whereas her allies try to be a bit more strategical. It’s a shame she isn’t in the movie more, just like most characters.
2Jane Foster/Mighty Thor
Jane, and Natalie Portman as an actress, sort of got disowned from the MCU. Her last time was in the secondThormovie unless fans want to count her remixed scenes inAvengers: Endgame. Like all love interests in solo films, she got the cold shoulder, but thankfully Jane wasn’t completely forgotten. She got to come back not just as a love interest for Thor again but as a full-blown superhero viathe Mighty Thor. Jane’s awkwardness as a hero, and her heart, are why she’s so high up. Also, she just deserves the highlight for kicking butt after being ignored.
1Thor
Main heroes aren’t always the best characters in their respective films. Spider-Gwen or Peter B. Parker, for example, was more fun than Miles was inSpider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Still, in this case, Thor isthe best characterin his movie. He’s come a long way as the fish out of water lug from that first film.
Things changed for the better inThor Ragnarok, wherein Chris Hemsworth was seemingly given the green light to be more charismatic and funny. Some of the best lines inThor: Love and Thunderbelong to Thor, including one where he alludes to not eating children. Hopefully, Hemsworth gets a new and long contract for future MCU projects.
