And though many fans jumped on the opportunity to start their space-faring adventures five days early, not all of them immediately set out for the stars, having instead opted to spend a lot of time in the game’s character creator. That group includes Reddit user ShhMyLegsAreSleeping, who recently went through the effort of recreatingRed Dead Redemption 2’sArthur Morgan inStarfield. The player decided to go for Arthur’s clean-shaven look that only unlocks after completing a certain Saint Denis mission in Chapter 4, with the end result of their efforts bearing a remarkable resemblance to the protagonist of Rockstar’s hit game.

Elaborating on this accomplishment, the author of the recreation revealed that they used the thirdStarfieldface preset as the basis for their design, then went on to sculpt each part of the face until they were satisfied with the character’s look. Doing so has presumably been no easy feat, not least because theStarfieldcharacter creator isn’t particularly intuitive to use; most facial features—including the forehead, eyes, nose, and chin—are mainly sculpted by manipulating up to a dozen sliders, all of which are classified as “shape blends” with no additional labeling or explanation.

As a result of that UI approach, recreating a specific face inStarfieldrequires a lot of trial and error for first-time players. Nevertheless, the character creator itself is at least as powerful as its more intuitive counterpart fromFallout 4, so fans looking to design in-game versions of themselves or anyone else should be able to do so with enough patience. PC players can alsocount onStarfieldmoddersto deliver a more intuitive character creation interface in the future.

This impressiveStarfieldrendition of Arthur Morgan is not the first example of the fandom using the game’s character creator to design intergalactic adventurers inspired by other media franchises. Another such protagonist emerged online during the RPG’s early access period aftersomeone decided to play throughStarfieldas Tony Soprano.
