It has now come to light that certain rumors aboutThe House of the Dead Remakebeing ported to PS4 are officially confirmed, along with other platforms.
The announcement of an officialHouse of the DeadRemakein April 2021mentioned plans for release on the Nintendo Switch. Now, with the promise of it also being released on PlayStation, Xbox, PC, and Stadia, this ensures a wider audience will be able to play the modern take on a classic shooter.

TheHouse of the DeadPS4 release rumorsurfaced at the start of April when certain PS4 online servers were teasing an image hinting at the game’s release. It was theorized that players on other platforms would be waiting several months just for a native release compared to the Switch counterpart, but less than a month later expectant fans have had their wishes granted. The official Twitter account forThe House of the Dead Remakehas announced additional platform support will be available from April 28.
The short gameplay trailer provides a lot of visual information about how it compares to its 1996 release, with players taking on hordes of undead monsters in a fast-paced rail shooter environment. Upgrading the visuals has been a challenge for someattempted remakes of classic games, butHouse of the Dead’s trademark zombies have retained their creepy appearance during the transition to HD. In turn, the sound design, cursor, blood splatter decals, and other stylistic choices have been lovingly preserved from the originalHouse of the Deadfor a new era of gamers.
Lots of new content has been added to the classic game as a way to bring together old and new fans. A recent Nintendo Q+A clarified howThe House of the Dead: Remake’s updated controlswould be manageable specifically for handheld controllers, such as “gyro aiming controls combined with analog buttons.” Fans of the original will be able to revel in the retained enemies and multiple endings alongside leaderboards, achievements, and a photo mode.
Attention for the franchise has been growing since Megapixel Studios began working on the remake, with items for the fans such asThe HOTD Remake’s physical release for Switch users. The success of this game could hint at more remakes from the same developers, paving the way for future entries in theHouse of the Deadseries.
