Baldur’s Gate 3has exploded in popularity on Steam, becoming one of the most popular games in the platform’s history overnight. Not only that, but the innovative RPG has been earned a great deal of critical acclaim. While there’s still time for the overall review score to fluctuate,Baldur’s Gate 3currently has a 94 overall rating on review aggregate site Metacritic, making it one of the highest-rated video games of all time. Its predecessors also earned overall review scores north of 90, with the originalBaldur’s Gatehaving a 91 rating andBaldur’s Gate 2: Shadows of Amnremaining the highest-rated game in the series so far with its 95 overall rating.

Baldur’s Gate Reviews

Not only haveprofessional reviewers showered theBaldur’s Gatetrilogy with high marks, but the community has as well. There are many instances were the overall user score for a game is significantly different from the professional review score, typically due to review bombing efforts. But that’s not the case with theBaldur’s Gategames. The first game has an 8.9 user score, while bothBaldur’s Gate 2andBaldur’s Gate 3have 9.2. So not only is theBaldur’s Gatetrilogy one of the highest-rated game trilogies from a professional reviews standpoint, but it’s also one of the highest-rated game trilogies from a user score standpoint.

Baldur’s Gate 3’s lack of microtransactions, dizzying scope, and commitment to providing as entertaining of an experience as possible have helped it become one of the year’s hottest games. AndBaldur’s Gate 3’s story is far from over. Only the PC version of the game is available right now, butBaldur’s Gate 3is coming to PS5 next month with an Xbox port happening at some point later down the line.
