Summary
WhileTekkendoes contain an intense, wider story that often centers on the fearsome disputes between the Mishima family, the games still do a good job of inserting a lot of lighthearted comedy to ensure things never become too dark or serious. Sometimes, this can come in the form of quirky characters or even the character arcade endings, which are always known for beingoutlandish and hilarious.
Because theTekkengames never take themselves too seriously, it means that Bandai Namco has a lot of freedom to insertsmall secrets and easter eggsinto them without them ever feeling too out of place or tonally inconsistent, and it’s, therefore, always a lot of fun to discover them. These are the easter eggs throughout the series that have stood the test of time as the most weird, hilarious, and memorable of them all.

Lei Slowly Dances Around His Opponent During His Idle Animation
Tekken 2
Experience “TEKKEN2”, enhanced with up-rendering, rewind, quick save, and custom video filters.Relive the excitement of the white-hot fighting game that lit up the arcades! Skilled fighters from around the world join the King of Iron Fist Tournament to seek fame and glory. Choose one of the unique brawlers, master their techniques, and dominate your opponent as you battle your way to the title of King of Iron Fist!
Appearing in almost every game since his first appearance, Lei Wulong was first introduced all the way back inTekken 2, and althoughhis drunken fist-fighting stylemade him a fun character to play, he also had a hidden ability that made him quite tricky to actually hit. If Lei stands completely still, his shuffling idle animation will allow him to gradually sidestep around the opponent, and despite it being very slow, it still gives Lei a little more maneuverability than the rest of the cast and can even allow him to dodge attacks through sheer luck.

Of course, this can’t be used as an excuse not to bother with learning the art of sidestepping since it plays such a massive role in the core gameplay of Tekken, but it’s still a fun little secret that’s never actually mentioned to the player. It also perfectly suits Lei’s more carefree fighting style, which is all about loose movements and random attacks.
6Armor King’s Flame Breath (Tekken 5)
Armor King Can Turn His Poison Mist Into An Unblockable Fire Attack
AlthoughKing is known for being an honorable and fair fighterin the world ofTekken, this doesn’t exactly apply to Armored King, who’s a much more merciless combatant who will gladly use any trick in the book to secure a victory. While one of his signature moves that he’s had sinceTekken 5: Dark Ressurectionis his Poison Breath, if players actually use a Ki Charge beforehand, they’ll be able to turn the mist into fire, making the attack completely unblockable.
It’s a hidden move that can drastically change the way Armored King plays since it allows him to break through a person’s rock-solid defense with ease, and it’s also just a flashy move in general that looks amazing when it manages to connect. The attack also deals a lot of pushback to the enemy fighter, granting Armor King a chance to gain some space and plan his next devastating attack.

5Panda (Tekken 3)
Panda Makes An Appearance As A Secret Character In Tekken 3
Although Panda technically became an official playable fighter inTekken Tag Tournament, there is actually a way to select her as a fighter inTekken 3. If playershover over Kuma’s portrait on the character select screenand press one of the kick buttons, they’ll then be able to choose Panda as their combatant of choice, though because the portrait doesn’t change, a lot of people didn’t realize that this actually changed anything for a long while after the game released.
Panda plays more or less the same as Kuma, but she does have a slightly longer arcade ending where she can be seen hanging out with her dear friend Xiayou for the last few seconds of the cutscene. There are already plenty of unlockable characters that can be acquired through completing specific challenges inTekken 3, but Panda was the only one that required more of a secret method to play.

Katsuhiro Harada’s Iconic Signature Is Subtly Placed In The Background Of A Character Select Screen
Tekken 6
This is a whole lot of fighting action packed into one game! Graphics which spotlight fighting action, a cast of 40 unique characters, and a battle system that has been refined over the series’ long history. The game also features Story Battle, which allows players to experience the story of each character, and Gold Rush.In addition, each character’s appearance can be customized to your liking!Hand-to-hand battle in a test of power - the Tekken saga continues!
Considering that players aren’t going to be spending too much time looking at the backgrounds ofa character select screen in a fighting game, it makes it the perfect place to insert a few small easter eggs and secrets, as is the case withTekken 6. On the versus screen, if players look closely in the background just underneath the countdown, they’ll be able to see a faint doodle of Heihachi, which has been scratched into the steel.

Not only is this a nice callback to one of the series' most important and beloved characters, but it’s also actually the signature of Katsuhiro Harada, the man who has been a lead director for theTekkenseries ever since the first game. This is one of those easter eggs that’s incredibly easy to miss, but it’s hard not to unsee it after noticing that it’s there for the first time.
Azucena dazzled players with her unique moveset and infectious personality in herTekken 8announcement trailer, but one other aspect of the video that eagle-eyed players managed to pick up on wasthe sighting of a UFO. While there was speculation that this could potentially be nothing more than a large bird, since the game has been released, more players have come forward claiming to have actually seen the mysterious object flying across the skies of the Ortiz Farm stage.

It can be hard to spot since the camera will need to be at a specific angle, but if the player can get a good enough view of the sky, they’ll see the UFO flying toward the large mountains in the background. The aliens thankfully can’t interrupt the intense fight at hand, but they still add a lot of intrigue to the stage itself since it begs the question of what exactly they’re looking for.
There’s nothing funnier than seeing the likes of Jin and Kazuya duking it out with massive bobbleheads and chipmunk voices, and players can make this a reality inTekken 2by simplyholding down the Select button during the character select screenuntil the battle begins. When the fighters spawn in, their heads will be about twice their original size, and their voices will become high-pitched for the remainder of the encounter.

Despite being incredibly easy to actually activate this secret mode, it took players quite a while to find it, and it’s a real shame that it hasn’t been implemented in future games, considering how funny it is. Luckily, the big heads don’t actually impact the gameplay, so it’s purely a visual change that won’t make anyone’s hitbox any bigger than it normally is.
There’s A Rare Secret Scene That Can Play Out Between Heihachi And His Father

Tekken Tag Tournament 2is packed full of unique character interactions that can occur after a fight, but one of the most intriguing and easy-to-miss takes place between Heihachi and his absurdly powerful father, Jinpachi. If players face off against Heihachi in the Arcade Mode and lose, a secret scene will play where Heihachi claims that he has no use for his father anymore, prompting him to press down on a giant red button to reveal a trap door that Jinpachi falls into.
It’s actually a pretty brutal cutscene which also plays in time with the countdown, making the player’s choice all the more intense on whether they want to continue fighting or not. It also goes a long way in emphasizing just how much underlying hatred is shared between the two relatives, which is pretty much the case for nearlyevery member of the Mishima bloodline.
