This game features all 12 original characters, alongside adding a bunch of new characters to its roster.Smash Remix has previously added Sonic the Hedgehog,Fire Emblem’s Marth, and even Marina Liteyears from the cult classic N64 title,Mischief Makers, among others. The latest update, version 1.5.0, adds three more characters to its roster.

In a new showcase video released on the official Smash Remix YouTube channel, it first shows off a scene similar toSuper Smash Bros. Ultimate’s reveal trailers, revealing that Ebisumaru is a playable boss variant of Goemon, having a different moveset than Goemon. Shortly after Ebisumaru’s trailer, it transitions into a trailer for Banjo-Kazooie, who plays similarly to when he was introduced as a DLC character inSuper Smash Bros. Ultimate. Banjo’s trailer is a charming animation that has several members of Smash Remix’s roster playing in a band alongside Banjo.
Characters Added in Smash Remix Update 1.5.0
The final reveal trailer in this showcase is for a rather unexpected character, which is the Dragon King, an alternate boss character variant based on Captain Falcon. Dragon King originates fromMasahiro Sakurai’s scrapped fighting gameof the same name, with this character retaining its appearance based on the early footage and screenshots that theSuper Smash Bros.director previously revealed in 2022. The game’s UI can even change to theDragon Kingprototype’s UI if all four players choose the Dragon King character.
Other additions and features were outlined in this video by the Smash Remix team. This includes several new stages based on iconic locations from across Nintendo’s history, new remixed single-player stages, a gallery for the congratulations images, customizable stage hazards, Pokemon appearance rate, and even new items like the P-Wing fromSuper Mario Bros. 3.
The video showcase ends with a compilation set to an N64 soundfont rendition of “Happy Together” by The Turtles, which was the song used inthe iconicSuper Smash Bros.commercialthat featured Mario, Yoshi, Pikachu, and Donkey Kong beating each other up in a field of flowers.
