The mod was uploaded to Nexus Mods by user Pekempy, titled “The Hog-Thomas Express.” Its concept is simple - it replaces the Hogwarts Express with Thomas the Tank Engine, and it’s definitely strange to see. In the post, the user claims that while the mod is currently just an asset swap, in the future the modder plans to add Thomas' theme song. Since its release,Hogwarts Legacyhas received a variety of weird and wonderful mods. Onemodder even added Shrek as a flyable broom toHogwarts Legacy, giving Thomas the Tank Engine some tough competition for the title of strangest mod.

For some reason,Thomas the Tank Engine modsare extremely common in games that can be modded. It’s the extremely strange juxtaposition between often-serious games, and a children’s show character, that just makes Thomas the Tank Engine hilarious to mod into games. The trend began back with 2011’sSkyrim, and clearly for many players, the joke hasn’t gotten old yet. At this point, it’s been a small part of gaming culture for over 11 years, so expect to see Thomas the Tank Engine make his way into more titles in the future.

WithHogwarts Legacynow released, the focus of Avalanche Software will shift towards supporting the game post-launch. WithHogwarts Legacy’s strong sales, the company has a great opportunity to support the game with more great content well into the future. While a sequel is possibly also in the early planning phases, the developer should capitalize on the game’s moment in the public eye by releasing more content. In the meantime, the modding community has already begun to show what they can add toHogwarts Legacy, which will only get better as they get more familiar with the game.
