AStardew Valleyplayer has demonstrated an easy way to get into off-limits areas that would only be unlocked later on with a simple piece of furniture. TheStardew Valleyexploit is surprisingly easy to pull off, and can be repeated multiple times if the player so chooses.
Stardew Valleyhas had its share of bugsand oddities, with some having a pretty significant impact on gameplay. For example, in some versions of the game, players have been able to give their character a name containing an item ID, which leads to the item spawning when their name is spoken in-game by an NPC. It’s a glitch that can be used for convenience or provide enough of a boost to change gameplay tremendously, depending on what item ID the player uses.

This particular furniture glitch, however, doesn’t rely on any obscure code or numbers. All players need to do is to acquire a simple chair; the same type that one can use as furniture in their home. Initially, the chairs couldn’t be interacted with, but the 1.5Stardew Valleyupdate added the ability to sit down in them. This is where theStardew Valleyexploitcomes in. As demonstrated by TikToker Salmence, by setting down the chair in certain locations, sitting on it, and then exiting it from the other side, players can access areas that normally have to be unlocked by progressing through the game.
The video demonstrates a few simple cases for this exploit. For example, NPCs don’t allow players to access their room until they’re close enoughfriends with theStardew Valleyplayer. This can be a hassle when the player needs to find someone to talk to them, complete a quest, or hand over a gift. However, if the player waits until the NPC opens their door, they can set down a chair in the doorway and hop off on the other side without problems. This same method can be used to access the secret woods, gain access to the mines early, or to access the quarry early.
With limited time to use in each day of the game, some players may enjoy having an easy way to access areas that would normally take a significant chunk of time to unlock. Since chairs have been placeable outdoors sinceStardew Valley’s 1.5 update, it’s unlikely that this exploit is going to be removed at this point. While many players enjoy taking their time inStardew Valleyand playing at their own pace, for anyone who wants to make progress quickly or speedrun a challenge, this exploit is worth a try.
