Stardew Valleyfeatures an immense amount of customization. This includes your farmer, whose appearance you can set at the start of the game and adjustwhen you get access to the Wizard’s basement.
Of course, you don’t have to go back to character creation to change the clothes your farmer wears.Stardew Valleyhas plenty of ways to get shirts and hats, both by crafting them and by finding them in shops or on monsters. The game’s list of pants, skirts, and other lower-body clothing is shorter, but you’re able to still craft several options if you know what the right recipes are.
How to Craft Pants
To craft any kind of clothing,you first need access to a sewing machine. There’s one inEmilyand Haley’s house, which is on the southwest end of Pelican Town. Emily will let you use it once you get your hands on at least one piece of cloth. Emily will also give you a sewing machine for your farmhouse if you complete her “Rock Rejuvenation” special order.
The sewing machine interface is the same whether it’s the one in Emily’s house or your own. On the left is a spaceto place a bolt of clothor a piece of clothing, and on the right is a space to place any other item. A bolt of cloth and an item will create clothing, while clothing and an item will dye the clothes to match the color scheme of the item. Doing this costs fewer items than using Emily’s dye pots, but you have less control over the results. Regardless, you’ll need to press the big on/off switch to complete the process.
The Pants Recipe List
Every pants recipe requires one bolt of cloth in addition to the item listed below. Some recipes include several items: each one creates the listed clothing, but its starting color changes based on which item you use. Unless stated otherwise,you can re-dye any of the listed clothing items, and so which item you pick to craft them isn’t very important.

The prismatic clothing is unusual in two ways. First, the clothing item you get when you put a Prismatic Shard in the sewing machine is random. It can be one of five items, including three shirts and two pants. Second, the clothing shifts through every color of the rainbow over the course of a few seconds. So while such clothing is showy and expensive, getting all five items is impractical and can be hard to look at.
