Star Wars Jedi: Survivoris the successor and direct sequel to a game that stands proudly near the top of everyStar Warsvideo game list.Jedi: Fallen Orderintroduced Cal Kestis to the gaming world in a narratively compelling experience that delved deeper into the mythos of a Galaxy Far, Far Away set against the backdrop of the Galactic Empire at its peak. All signs point thatJedi: Survivorwill continue in that direction with an older, more grizzled Cal as its protagonist.

Announced at Star Wars Celebration 2022with a brief, mysterious trailer, much ofJedi: Survivoris still kept under wraps. While footage from the game itself has been scarce, a tie-in novel was unveiled yesterday that bridges the five-year gap betweenFallen OrderandSurvivor. Grubb claims thatStar Wars Jedi: Survivorwill come out in March 2023 – the same month as the tie-in novel. This estimate matches with an earlier PlayStation store leak that placed the game’s release date in March as well. While there’s always the possibility that Respawn Entertainment and Electronic Arts push back the launch ofJedi: Survivor, it seems that players can reasonably expect the game to come out in the first half of next year.

InStar Wars Jedi: Survivor, players will join Cal Kestis and the crew of the Stinger Mantis as the young Jedi tries to evade the Empire’s unending pursuit of the galaxy’s few remaining Jedi Knights. If Cal’s leaked action figure is anything to go by,Jedi: Survivormay also be introducing gunplayinto the franchise. Switching between ranged and melee combat has the potential to further expand upon the game’s Soulslike combat, and moreover – it thematically fits theSurvivorsubtitle of the sequel in a perfect way. The Jedi Order has fallen, and Cal will need to pick up unorthodox skills and even stranger allies if he is to survive the dark times of the Empire.

While not officially confirmed in any capacity,Fallen Orderplayers are hopeful that the sequel game will allow them to play the Nightsister Merrin as a dual protagonist to Cal, not unlike the wayTheWitcher 3: Wild Huntfeatured both Geralt and Ciri as its playable characters. Fans can most likely expect to find out more about the game during the bigD23 Expo in September.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivoris expected to launch in 2023 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X.
