Throughout the last decade, various studios have been given the opportunity to adapt unique Marvel storylines in partnership with Marvel Games. This has produced major titles, such as Insomniac Studio’sMarvel’s Spider-Manseries, Eidos-Monrteal’sMarvel’s Avengers, and 2k’sMarvel’s Midnight Suns. In October 2021,Skydance Interactiveannounced an untitledMarvel game helmed by Amy Hennig, best known for her role as co-creator, writer, and director of theUnchartedseries. The game will feature a lesser-known team-up between Black Panther and Captain America from Marvel Comics, transporting players back to World War 2. Though little else is known about the project, Skydance’s Marvel game has already set up a perfect post-credits scene, laying the foundation for two members of the Avengers team.
Skydance Interactive’s Marvel game will feature a team-up between Captain America and the WWII era’s Black Panther, Azzuri the Wise, also known as T’Challa’s paternal grandfather, T’Chanda. The story comes from a 4-issue miniseries, titledCaptain America/Black Panther: Flags of our Fathers, in which the two heroes briefly conflict, before joining forces to stop the Nazis from attaining Wakandan Vibranium. Skydance’s Marvel game will focus on the latter, offering players a lesser-seen side of World War 2. While gamers have likely explored the battlefields of the European theater in other titles, few depict the effects of the War in Africa.

Steve Rogers and Azzuri the Wise’s First Meeting Changed the Course of History
InFlags of our Fathers, theteam-up between Black Panther and Captain Americahad a profound impact on both Steve Rogers and the nation of Wakanda. Steve and the Howling Commandos undertake a secret mission to locate and befriend the nation of Wakanda, as Hitler has sent a battalion of soldiers to acquire Vibranium for German ICBMs. When Rogers and his team arrive, Azzuri, the Black Panther, has already disposed of the battalion, mounting their heads on spikes. Rogers asserts that the Wakandan government must choose to side with either the Axis or Allies, to which Azzuri replies that they have already chosen their side, Wakanda.
When the weight of the Third Reich bares down on them, Azzuri and Steve team up, with the Black Panther observing the words and actions of a surprisingly honorable Captain America. Throughout the team’s series of battles, Azzuri denotes the positivequalities of Captain America, while skirting the major issues of the time, such as racism, American superiority, and their motives during WW2. Following the story’s major events, Azzuri realizes that Captain America has the potential to be a symbol for Americans, just as the Black Panther is for Wakandans. He educates Steve about his hopes for the future of Wakanda, which he trusts will transcend beyond the need to become a global power, and helps Steve to see beyond the war’s Axis versus Allies narrative.

Skydance’s Marvel Game’s Post-Credits Scene Could Feature An Unexpected Meeting
Skydance’s Marvel game has a high bar to clear, as many fans are unfamiliar with the previous bearers of the Black Panther mantle. However, a post-credits scene could lay the foundation for a well-known team-up. Following World War 2, Steve Rogers is frozen in ice for decades, and, depending on the era of comics, is unfrozen sometime in the 1960s. Following the credits of Skydance’s Marvel game, an unfrozen Steve Rogers could return to witness the fruition of Azzuri’s hopes for the future of Wakanda and reunite with the Black Panther.
Arriving in the 1960s Wakanda, Steve could request an audience with his former teammate,Marvel’s Black Panther. Upon approaching the throne, Steve could speak to the monarch, before he is revealed to be T’Challa, Azzuri’s grandson. Whether laying the foundation for a sequel or providing a fun moment for fans, a post-credit scene featuring Steve and T’Challa feels like a natural way to connect the title to the bigger Marvel universe. Until more details arrive, though, fans are left to speculate about this unique premise.
