Rumors have been swirling aboutBattlefield 6since last year, when industry insiders and leakers suggested that the game would be returning the franchise to a modern setting.Battlefield 6rumors have been consistent since then, with the latest indicating that not only is the new game returning to a modern setting, but it’s also taking inspiration from one of the franchise’s most popular entries.

According to Tom Henderson, an industry insider who has accurately leaked news in the past,Battlefield 6is taking inspiration from 2011’sBattlefield 3.Battlefield 3earned mostly positive reviews at the time of its release, with particular praise given to its use of cutting edge graphics and its multiplayer game modes. Critics and fans were less favorable when it came toBattlefield 3’s campaign, but perhaps that’s a drawback thatDICE can address inBattlefield 6.

Other details revealed by Henderson in the video includeBattlefield 6’s title. If Henderson’s information is correct,Battlefield 6will be called “Battlefield,” with no number or subtitle. As far as gameplay goes, Henderson reiterated a previous claim thatBattlefield 6will support 128 players in its multiplayer, which is larger than the player count in many battle royale games that are currently available.

Henderson also touched on the release plan forBattlefield 6.Battlefield 6is expected to release in 2021, and when it does, it will launch for the newest consoles as well as last generation systems. However, it seemsBattlefield 6on PS4 and Xbox One will be significantly less impressive than the PS5 and Xbox Series X versions. Apparently, thelast-gen version ofBattlefield 6will have less impressive graphics and significantly smaller multiplayer battles, capped at 64 players instead of 128 like the next-gen versions.

Of course, fans should take this information with a grain of salt. While Henderson has accurately leaked news in the past, that doesn’t meant that this news is true, and the best course of action is to wait for an official announcement from EA. Assuming EA is hosting itsannual EA Play event during E3 seasonin June, perhaps theBattlefield 6announcement will happen at that point, but fans will just have to wait and see.

As far as otherBattlefield 6rumors go, previous leaks have teased the game’s setting. If those leaks are real,Battlefield 6will be set during World War 3, which could make for an interesting narrative, to say the least. Whether or not there’s truth to any of theseBattlefield 6rumors remains to be seen, but fans should find out within the next six months or so.
