As spotted by The gamer, Twitter user @3DSage wants to experience the remake as a handheld release, specifically by porting it to Nintendo’s Game Boy Advance SP. A brief clip demonstrates the current work in progress, showing a very pixelated Leon Kennedy in an even more pixelated shooting gallery. The creator says they were inspired by theRE4remake to see if they could make it compatible on the much older device, with plans to hopefully add more to their port.
While it’s not quite asiconic as Nintendo’s original Game Boy, the Game Boy Advance SP was, as the name suggests, an upgraded version of 2001’s GBA, which in turn was a more sophisticated successor to one of the most influential handheld consoles in history. Discontinued in 2009, the SP is not really around anymore, but it’s nice to see that some people are still interested in keeping the device alive in this modern gaming era.
This is also not the first timesomeone has demade aResident Evilgame. There have been many downgrades to the long-standing survival horror franchise, going as far as turningVillageinto aCastlevania-style platformer or imagining the more recentREtitles as having the graphics and fixed camera angle features of some of the older entries.
