Wild West-themed open-world adventureRed Dead Redemption 2offers players a variety of ways to die. Protagonist Arthur Morgan can be struck by lightning, fall from his horse, be crushed by a tree, or even be shot into the air by a geyser. Since the game’s release in 2018, fans have discovered over 500 unique in-game methods of death, all of which are helpfully cataloged for the player in a post-death menu. According to a recently discovered Easter egg, it seemsRed Dead Redemption 2players can even be offed by a dead ringer for a popular celebrity.

Offering an enormous open world to explore, the sequel to 2010’sRed Dead Redemptionallows players to choose whether their version of Arthur Morgan will be an honorable protector of justice or a notorious outlaw. Playing the game as a criminal can result in being gunned down by various sheriffs, deputies, and other officers of the law across the United States, with the severity of their response calculated via an in-game “Wanted” system that dictates the amount and severity of the bounty on Arthur’s head.

While playing multiplayer modeRed Dead Online,a Reddit user going by u/Droneglow found themselves shot to death by an unnamed lawman who greatly resembled celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay. The lawman, who wielded a semi-automatic shotgun as the weapon he used to end Arthur Morgan’s life, boasted a face and hairstyle similar to the host ofHell’s Kitchen, MasterChef, Kitchen Nightmares,and many other popular food- and cooking-themed shows.

While it is unknown whether the resemblance to Ramsay was deliberate, it is certainly an amusing coincidence at the very least. Perhaps the next fan-created mod, rather thancoatingRed Dead’s world in snowor improving its camera angles, will instead officially add Gordon Ramsay to the game.

Commenters on Reddit responded to u/Droneglow’s post by making jokes related to Ramsay’s career and memetic catchphrases, suggesting that the user had been killed because he presented Ramsay with a raw dish, or that he was an eliminate contestant onHell’s Kitchenwho Ramsay decided was unworthy of a continuing career as a chef.

Many joked that either u/Droneglow or Arthur Morgan was an “idiot sandwich,” referencing a famous image of Gordon Ramsay in which he places two slices of bread on either side of a contestant’s head and insisting that they refer to themselves as such before he will stop. Given fans' history ofcreating custom characters resembling celebrities such as 50 Cent, it is likely many more Gordon Ramsays will pop up inRed Dead Onlinein the near future.

This is only the latest in a series of humorous Easter eggs discovered by the r/reddeadredemption Reddit community. Other recent discoveries include an error where character Dutch falls out of the sky instead of approaching Arthur normally and a scenario in whicha fight with an NPC met on a mountain path results in Arthur’s death via being thrown off a cliffand crashing on the ground below, referred to by fans as “instant karma.”
