Fans ofPokemonmight find themselves surprised seeing Blissey of all Pokemon ready to duke it out against her peers inPokemon Unite. Taking the role of a Ranged Supporter, Blissey provides much-needed healing to her team as they score points in aPokemon Unitematch. Just like in her appearance since her Generation II introduction, Blissey serves as the final evolution of baby Happiny, which evolves into Chansey first before becoming Blissey.

However, just because Blissey has a knack for helping her friends doesn’t mean she’s a pushover. When utilized properly, Blissey’s skillset can turn a losing fight into a winning match with the right support. For newcomers who want to dominate the support role, just how should they use Blissey inPokemon Unite?
Understand The Stats
Before dwelling deeper into the specifics of using Blissey, it may help users to understand her overall stats first. At its core, Blissey has the following characteristics:
Support And Tank In One
Perhaps Blissey’s core strength lies in her nature as a Support Role. Even without her support skills, Blissey can become a tricky Pokemon to beat given her naturally high HP. Moreover, the support potential of her Unite Move can turn the tide of combat when used properly.
However, where Blissey truly shines is the tactical potential of her buffs. For instance, Helping Hand can give Attackers a much-needed speed and damage boost to outpace opponents. Meanwhile, Safeguard can remove debuffs to get an ally back to the fight.

Timing, Teamwork Remain Vulnerabilities
Despite her natural strength as a Support Role, it’s precisely this position that presents Blissey’s biggest vulnerabilities. At her core, Blissey’s high HP won’t do much to protect her given her naturally low defense. As such, Blissey needs to buff herself via Soft-Boiled before being able to tank an enemy’s assault.
Moreover, despite her buffing potential, Blissey’s perks are only as useful as the teammates benefiting from them. In turn, improper usage of the buffs can become a real headache for Blissey and her team. For instance, Safeguard is a powerful anti-debuff but only when removing statuses for the right affected ally.

Nightmare For Status Dealers
As with any MOBA, the right combination of debuffs can hurt even the most powerful combatants in any match. InPokemon Unite, Pokemon such as Gengar remain frightening not because of their offensive potential but rather in their reliance on debuffs.
Thing is, Blissey is precisely the counter for teams that rely on these status ailments. Thanks to Safeguard, Blissey can make team fights that rely on debuffs quite useless. Of course, this obvious counter-strategy means Blissey will instantly become the priority target for the enemy team.

Lane Priority Depends On Coordination
Given Blissey’s skillset as a Support unit, her lane priority will have to depend on the kind of Pokemon she needs to support and their primary responsibilities. As such, players using Blissey for the first time may need to check Blissey’s potential performance in the following lanes:

Build Priority Depends On Focus
While Blissey excels from a support perspective, it doesn’t necessarily mean that she’s always reserved for healing roles. In fact, certain builds and item choices for Blissey depend on the player’s focus throughout the entire match.
Players have different recommended builds depending on whether they want their Blissey to focus on buffing her allies from the rear or if she wants to heal while dealing damage. Here are some considerations:

Priority Build: Buff Master
Players who want to capitalize on Blissey’s nature as a Support unit should prioritize her buffing abilities when leveling her up. This Buff Master build focuses on exactly those elements. Of course, the biggest risk when pursuing this build is trading off Blissey’s damage potential with absurdly strong healing abilities.
With this build, Blissey focuses on Heal Pulse to periodically heal her allies while Safeguard ensures they won’t get hindered by status ailments. Thanks to Helping Hand, allies get a nifty attack speed and movement speed boost to maximize their offensive potential.

Priority Build: Combat Healer
Players who want to capitalize on Blissey’s tanking potential would want to try this Combat Healer build. Unlike her buffing-oriented kit, this build will try to ensure that Blissey has all the tools she needs to get straight to combat while healing in the front lines.
With this build, Blissey focuses on Helping Hand which buffs both her and her allies’ overall damage. This skill is best paired with Soft-Boiled, which gives a quick heal to Blissey and her allies. As such, Blissey can give her allies more room to deploy more skills as her constant heals provide better sustains.

Priority Battle Item: Eject Button
As with other MOBA,Pokemon Unitehas Pokemon rely on Battle Items to give them an additional edge in combat. In the case of Blissey, it’sEject Buttonthat can become her saving grace in clutch moments due to its handy mobility. At its core, Eject Button will allow Blissey to teleport short distances immediately.
Due to this Battle Item, Blissey can use her extra mobility in two ways. Firstly, Blissey can use Eject Button to constantly get out of sticky situations, particularly when ganked or in team fights. More importantly, Eject Button can help Blissey get to an ally in need much faster compared to on foot.

Playstyle Depends On Objectives
Given the situational nature of Blissey’s buffs, her best plays don’t always work at all times. In fact, the right playstyle for Blissey depends on the team’s objectives at the moment and how best Blissey could adjust to the situation. And depending on the stage of the match, Blissey may also rely on specific approaches to maximize her toolkit. Here are some things to take note of:

Early Game: Become Damage Backup
Albeit an expected tactic, players shouldn’t forget to stay with another damage-dealer to ensure Blissey’s survivability. Thanks to her abilities, Blissey can give Speedsters, All-Rounders, and Attackers much-needed buffs to secure the edge over stronger foes.
It’s due to these advantages that Blissey is a recommended Support in the Top Lane, as this Lane is usually a hotspot for intense battles. Thanks to Blissey’s presence, the team can get constant heals or even constant buffing. When pulled off properly, Blissey and a teammate can secure a Lane or even constantly gank foes throughout the early game.

Early Game: Attack With Timing
Granted, Blissey doesn’t boast good defense to make her a great contender against strong Pokemon. However, pair Blissey with a reliable ally and she becomes quite the annoying sub-damage unit. This is especially in the early game since Blissey’s early access to Pound can give her mean damage potential.
Remember, unlike other Pokemon that get a buff every nth attack, Blissey gets an attack boost every few seconds. As such, Blissey can deal consistently good damage when players get her tempo properly. Combined with Pound, Blissey can become an annoying damage-dealer in the early game, especially with her constant healing abilities.

Mid Game: Tanking Depends On Soft-Boiled
At Level 4, Blissey can access either Safeguard or Soft-Boiled. And while both moves are useful in terms of supporting allies, it’sSoft-Boiledthat determines Blissey’s viability as a tank. Without Soft-Boiled, Blissey should best stay with a teammate and focus on support. While Blissey boasts a ton of HP, the lack of added survivability from Soft-Boiled can make Blissey an open punching bag.
Likewise, getting Soft-Boiled can make Blissey quite a mean tanking machine. Soft-Boiled provides Blissey with three charges of healing that affect her and nearby teammates. A useful strategy here is to bait enemies with Blissey at low health, only to strike back with Soft-Boiled quick healing and a deadly counter-attack.
Late Game: Take Center Stage In Team Fights
Despite Blissey’s naturally low defense, it’s perhaps the middle of the team fight where she shines the most - at least in the endgame. By the time Blissey gets access to Helping Hand, she has one of the best Buffs in the game. After all, the boost to attack speed and movement speed can ensure Speedsters and Attackers just outpace enemies in high-speed incursions.
As such, it’s recommended that Blissey get herself as close to many allies as possible before using Helping Hand. That way, she’ll be able to keep on buffing enemies while sustaining herself with healing.
Late Game: Choose The Right Ally To Support
Thanks toBliss Assistance (Unite Move), Blissey can give an ally a substantial boost to its Attack and Special Attack as well as a mild shield. Blissey will also take on a bit of the damage the Assistance’s target will be taking for a short while. Perhaps more interestingly, Blissey will throw all nearby enemy Pokemon while dashing on her way to her chosen ally.
With these in mind, Bliss Assistance becomes a perfect comeback against an enemy assault. However, Bliss Assistance is only useful when paired with the right ally. It’s highly recommended for Blissey to use Bliss Assistance tothe team’s strongest ally - particularly the Attackeror an All-Rounder.
