Pokemon ScarletandVioletare set to come out later this year, and fans are excited to see what new Pokemon the games will feature. With the new region being based on the Iberian Peninsula, there area lot of expectations in terms of Pokemon based on Spanish culture, wildlife, and geography. Fans are especially curious about what the legendary mascots will be like.
In terms of mascot legendaries so far,Pokemongames have done dragons, wolves, deer, birds, bats, and lions. They have had different themes as well, such as land and sea, life and death, and sun and moon. ForScarletandViolet, what makes the most sense are bull mascot legendaries, and their themes could be fire and water or light and shadow.

Why Bulls Should Be The Legendaries
Discussion of bulls inPokemon ScarletandViolethas been rampant since the announcement. Fans have wondered if Tauros will get a region variant, if the three roaming legendaries will be bulls, or if there will be a new bull Pokemon. All this bull discussion is because the game is based on Spanish culture. Bulls are a big symbol in Spain, and to ignore that in aPokemongame would be bizarre.
While bullfighting is the first thought fans have had in terms of bulls inSpanish culture, there is more to Spanish bulls than just that. The Running of the Bulls is a famous event in Spain where a group of bulls is set loose to run down a sectioned-off street and people can run ahead or on the side to show off bravery, though injuries are common. Bullfighting has become less popular in Spain due to controversy over animal cruelty, soPokemonshould focus on other notes of bulls in Spanish culture, and it does not have to just be The Running of the Bulls. They can research the most famous breed and what it symbolizes in Spanish culture.

“Toro Bravo” is an Iberian breed of bull that can be found in Portugal, France, and Spain. The breed is known for its strength and aggression. Some historians believe that the bulls date back to wild bulls that were captured and used by theRoman Empire. Their colors range from black to brown and sometimes gray, red, and white-patched.
In the countries that exist withinthe Iberian Peninsula, bulls are a symbol of courage. The “Sin miedo y al toro” translates to “no fear, and to the bull” which is a lot like the English saying “take the bull by the horns.” Not only are bulls related to courage, but they are symbols used in a lot of Spanish companies. The most famous of these is The Osborne Bull, which has dozens of huge silhouette boards around Spain. They originally existed to advertise brandy but eventually just became an unofficial national symbol. The bull is now found on many Spanish postcards, flags, and stickers.

What Bull Mascots Could Look Like
IfPokemonwere to make theirlegendary mascotsbulls, then there is a whole range of questions to ask such as what type they would be, what their designs would look like, and so on. There is still very little actually known aboutScarletandVioletoutside the starters, Spanish inspiration, and names. “Scarlet” and “Violet” can be powerful hints though.
A bull for theScarletgame could be inspired by what scarlet can allude to, which is fire, warmth, light, and life. It can also connote darker things like violence, aggression, and blood. These ideas spring up ideas of Fire, Dark, andFighting type Pokemon. The bull design could be red with fire around its hooves and horns, as well as flames coming out of its nostrils. It could perfectly emulate the strength and wild aggression in the Toro Bravo bull breed.
What a bull would look like inVioletis a little more difficult to imagine. Some fans predict a Water-type because thePokemonregion looks to be on the coast. That would be suitable for a rival mascot if one is Fire-type as well. However, Violet is a color associated more with the mystical than water, so the bull mascot from this game could also be a Ghost or Psychic-type.ScarletandVioletcan be about the physical and the magical and show that in its mascots. AGhost-typeToro Bravo would be very cool to see.
Alllegendary Pokemonalso have backstories. TheScarletandVioletmascots' stories are hard to predict with what little information the public currently has on the upcoming games. If the legendary mascots are bulls, though, that could inspire an interesting relationship between humans and the legendary Pokemon, especially if the developers really take inspiration from Toro Bravo. These legendaries could be known for their aggression and are thus revered, feared, or both. They could also be associated with festivals inspired by actual Spanish culture, for example,Pokemoncould have its own version of The Running of the Bulls.
Another idea that some fans have had in the past is a Minotaur legendary Pokemon. Minotaur are not from Spanish culture, but are bull-related and go in a fantastical direction thatPokemonloves to take inspiration from. This could especially be possible when there are already bull Pokemon such as Tauros but no Minotaur Pokemon.
It is unknown when the community will get more information onPokemon ScarletandViolet, but when more of the games are shown, fans are hoping tosee the new legendaries. After all, it is the mascots that often make players decide which game to get. Whatever they will be, the developers need to deliver fresh and unique designs.
