APokemon Scarlet and Violetplayer noticed that one of their team members, a Blissey, had a ridiculously high HP statistic after some training. Noting it as an anomaly, the player then posted a chart of Blissey’s stat distribution on social media, where otherPokemon Scarlet and Violetplayers offered commentary about Blissey and the ridiculous HP pool it has.
Known as the Happiness Pokemon, Blissey is a Normal-type Pokemon that made its debut inPokemon Gold and Silver. Blissey isthe final form of the Chansey evolution lineand evolves from Chansey upon reaching a certain threshold of the happiness stat. While the stat can be difficult to track, happiness can be bolstered by giving Chansey a Soothe Bell to hold, offering Berries such as Pomeg or Grepa Berries, and leveling up for a bit. With enough patience, Chansey will evolve into Blissey. Alternatively, Blissey can be found in the wild inPokemon Scarlet and Violet, particularly in the fields of the North Province, and in five-star and six-star Tera Raid battles.

A Reddit user by the name of MrSnuffle_ posted a screenshot fromPokemon Violetof their Blissey, which boasted a ridiculous 714 HP, and 336 Special Defense. The HP total was outstanding enough to pierce through the hexagon chart shown on-screen and showed how crazy and questionablethe logic of Pokemon stat distributionscan be in the ninth generation. According to the comments section on the r/PokemonScarletViolet subreddit, MrSnuffle_ used Hyper Training and different means to boost the individual values (IV) and effort values (EV) of Blissey’s HP stat, with its nature giving it additional special defense as a bonus.
The post received over 300 upvotes within the first day, and the comments provided feedback on how MrSnuffle_ could further improve their Blissey. While Blissey’s abysmal defense stat makes it untenable inthe Cinderace Tera Raid battlesonce they return toPokemon Scarlet and Violetnext weekend, its special defense and special attack stats can be bolstered further with additional EV and IV training. Coupled with a Mint such as the Modest Mint to boost Blissey’s special attacks at the cost of its already-low physical attacks, this would make Blissey into an excellent support Pokemon in Tera Raid battles against special attackers such as Charizard.
With abilities such as Natural Cure and Healer, along with moves such as Soft-Boiled, Blissey is one of thetop Pokemon capable of self-healingin the entirePokemonseries. With the defenses and HP to back it up, it is easy to see why players such as MrSnuffle_ chose Blissey as a key part of their team.
