When The Pokemon Company first announcedPokemon Scarlet and Violet, it capped off the initial trailer with the reveal of the new starter Pokemon. Like almost all main seriesPokemongames before them,Pokemon Scarlet and Violetwill give players the ability to choose between three different starters at the beginning of their adventure. This time around,Pokemonfans will get to choose between Grass-type starter Sprigatito, Fire-type starter Fuecoco, and Water-type starter Quaxly.

The initial reveal of thePokemon Scarlet and Violetstarters showed static images of them, but fans were given a closer look in the second trailer. This trailer gave close-up views of all threePokemon Scarlet and Violetstarters, giving fans a better sense of their personalities. However, there are still many unanswered questions about thePokemon Scarlet and Violetstarters, like what their shiny forms will look like.

Shiny Pokemon, for the uninitiated, are extremely rare Pokemon variants that have different color schemes than usual. Sometimes these color changes make the Pokemon look significantly different than they typically do, but in other cases the shiny variants offer only subtle color changes. It’s unlikely thatPokemonfans will see the starter shiny variants untilPokemon Scarlet and Violetcome out, but one fan has imagined what they may look like in the meantime.

Reddit user itsmeesprit has created their own take on what thePokemon Scarlet and Violetstarter shiny variants may look like when the games launch later this year. Itsmeesprit’s interpretation sees the usually-green Sprigatito with a new pink look, while Fuecoco has gone from red to gold. Despite the color change, this stilllets Fuecoco keep his apple-like appearance, as there are yellow/gold-colored apples as well as red ones.

Water-type starter Quaxlyhas the subtlest changes in itsmeesprit’s shiny redesigns, with a different colored beak and different shades of white and blue. This is reflective of how shiny Pokemon appear in the main games, though, as there are many who have subtle differences like this as opposed to completely different recolors as is the case with itsmeesprit’s Sprigatito and Fuecoco shiny designs.

Many fans are interested in seeing the officialPokemon Scarlet and Violetstarter shinies, but many others are more concerned about the starter evolutions. Just as thePokemon Scarlet and Violetstarter shiny variants have been kept secret, so too have their evolution lines. It’s possible that future trailers will revealwhat thePokemon Scarlet and Violetstarters evolve into, but it’s also possible fans will have to wait to play the games for themselves to find out.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violetlaunch November 18, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
