Game Freak’s 2022 action role-playing game,Pokemon Legends: Arceusis a hit on the Nintendo Switch and continues to enthrall players with its open-region exploration and Pokemon collection features. As players explore different biomes and environments in the Hisui region inPokemon Legends: Arceus, they come across wild Pokemon, battling and catching them as they go, similar to all previousPokemongames.
The main hub area of the game is calledJubilife Village, where the player can rest, stock up on supplies, and trade out their current party of Pokemon from those that are contained in the Pastures, which are similar to the PC boxes from previous Pokemon games. These pastures are literal fenced-in fields where the Pokemon that the player catches are able to roam around and interact with each other.

Redditor mattmeade76 points out, though, that seeing legendary Pokemon roaming around in the field is particularly funny because it seems ridiculous that a small wooden fence would be able to contain them. The image shows the player standing in front of aRegigigas, a legendary Pokemon that holds dominion over all three legendary titans: Regice, Registeel, and Regirock. This legendary Pokemon is able to move entire mountains with its power, but the wooden fence of the Pasture in Jubilife Village is enough to contain it.
Of course, Pokemon that have been caught are no longer wild and therefore have no reason to escape or run away, but just seeing a legendary Regigigas towering over the wooden fence, but not being able to get out of it, is humorous. Inprevious Pokemon games, caught Pokemon that did not fit in the player’s party would be sent to the PC, where they would be held virtually for the player until they were ready to switch out.Pokemon Legends: Arceustakes place in a time before the PC system, so the Pasture system is used.
WithPokemon Scarlet and Violeton the horizon, fans are excited to see what new Pokemon, gameplay features, battle mechanics, and other things the developers are planning on adding to the franchise. Each generation ofPokemongames comes with a host of new features, a new region, new Pokemon to discover and collect, and new characters to meet. InPokemon Legends: Arceus, players are able to ride Pokemon, explore open regions to their heart’s content, catch Pokemon without even engaging in battle, and, as the Regigigas shows, even keep legendary Pokemon in the Pasture.
Although it is true thatPokemon Legends: Arceusis a non-traditionalPokemongame and is part of the eighth generation of games in the main series, its fresh new features and unique gameplay ensure that it will not be left behind even as new games come out in the series.
