After a fewmonths of stagnant Research Breakthrough Rewards,Pokemon GOplayers are going to be very excited to hear that a new rotation has arrived for February 2020. Although the featured Pokemon may not be the most powerful for PvP, many players are still going to be pumped to add this new entry to the Pokedex.
With the recent batch of breakthrough rewards out of the way,Pokemon GOtrainers will soon be able to earn Research Breakthrough Reward encounters with the popular Psychic/Flying-type Woobat. Although Woobat isn’t exactly veryimportant to the PvP metagameplayers may still want to complete the weekly tasks multiple times so that they can earn enough candy to get this Pokedex entry and evolve it before the month of rewards is over.

The Februrary Research Breakthrough Rewards are officially available as of now, which means it’s time for players to start cashing in those stamps for another opportunity to encounter the gen 5 Pychic/Flying-type.
From Saturday, June 26, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. to Sunday, June 10, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. PST (GMT −8), the Bat Pokémon Woobat with bonus Woobat Candies will be available as Research Breakthrough encounters! This Pokémon originally discovered in the Unova region will be making its Pokémon GO debut.
Can you guess why it’s making its debut in February, the month of love? Well, look no further than its cute nose! This Psychic- and Flying-type Pokémon uses the suction from its nose to stick to cave walls as it sleeps. The heart-shaped mark it leaves on skin is said to bring good fortune, so we hope an encounter with Woobat will bring you not only good luck but also a new friend!
Although Research Breakthroughs are usually popular, it seems like this batch will probably be a little less likely to motivate trainers to keep up those streaks and complete Field Research on a daily basis (it probably won’t distract players from collecting themost powerful Unova region Pokemon). To earn the special research breakthrough encounters, players just need to earn 7 stamps, by completing regular field research tasks that are collected from Pokestops.
