For many people,Pokemon GOcontinues to be a way of life and part of their daily routines. While the game started with only the original 151 Pokemon, over the past several years many pocket monsters have been added to fill the gargantuan Pokedex. Thankfully, it seems players will only have towait a few more daysto start seeing new Galarian forms of Pokemon added to their grind.
In more recent entries of thePokemonseries, players have been able to find new and unique forms of their favorite creatures based on the region they’re from. These forms not only change the physical appearance of the Pokemon, but sometimes alter other characteristics as well, including type, ability, and movesthey can learn. This concept was added inPokemon SunandPokemon Moonwith the Alola region, and was continued with the Galar region inPokemon SwordandPokemon Shield.

For this update,Pokemon GOplayers can expect to find new forms from the Galar region. Through information that was datamined from the game, it is expected that Meowth, Ponyta, Rapidash, Slowpoke, Farfetch’d, Zigzagoon, Linoone, Darumaka, Darmanitan, and Stunfisk will have their Galarian forms added to the game within the coming days. It has also been datamined that the shiny variants of these Pokemon will be coming as well, however, it’s not been confirmed on whether or not they will be added the same day.
It’s currently being assumed that the addition of these Pokemon is due to the Throwback Challenge Champion Event coming soon to the game. This event will run from June 3 - June 8, and adds a new quest to the game and will allow players to start spotting Galarian Stunfisk in the wild and raids, as well as hatch Galarian Meowth, Zigzagoon, Darumaka, and Stunfisk from 7km Eggs more frequently. Players can also expect to see increased spawn rates of Pokemonfrom the Unova regionduring this time.
The addition of these alternate forms should excite those dedicatedPokemon GOplayers craving to complete their Pokedex. While the game may still be missing the special evolutions of these Galarian Pokemon, like Sirfetch’d and Galarian Slowbro, players will haveplenty of things to doin-game to occupy themselves until their addition.
