Summary
A creativePokemonfan is giving Swinub a series of makeovers based on its fellow collectible creatures, and has started with Bulbasaur. Swinub was introduced inPokemon Gold and Silveras an Ice/Ground type Pig Pokemon and the 220th numbered Pokedex entry. It evolves into Piloswine at level 33, which in turn becomes Mamoswine once it learns the Ancient Power move. All three of these forms have appeared in subsequentPokemongames, withSwinub getting aPokemon GOCommunity Day eventback in April.
Swinub is just one of the many different breeds of monsters found in thePokemonfranchise, which has entertained gamers since the late 1990s and inspired fans to create impressive artwork of what would happen if two different species were merged into one. Some of these fusions includeGeneration 1’s Dodrio and Dittobeing combined into a bizarre bird/blob hybrid,Scarlet and Violet’s Armarouge and Ceruledge merging to become a knight-like Paradox Pokemon, and even classic mainstays Pikachu and Bulbasaur being joined into a strangely cute rodent-and-dinosaur mix.

This wouldn’t be the last time thatBulbasaur merged with another Pokemonto create a shockingly adorable fan creation, as Reddit user Fra_aa__ recently started a project to draw Swinub fusions of all 1009 other members of Nintendo’s line of elemental creatures. As Bulbasaur is the first officially numbered Pokemon, this series starts with it, and Swinub gains a teal-and-green color scheme and Bulbasaur’s signature plant bulb growing out of its back as a result. Other Reddit users have praised Fra_aa__ for their cute reimagining of Swinub and are looking forward to seeing how they handle combinations with other Pokemon like Machamp.
As mentioned before,Bulbasaur is the first official Pokemon, and one of the three original starter Pokemon players could choose from at the beginning ofPokemon Red and Blue. As such, Bulbasaur is one of the most well-known Pokemon and has been the inspiration for plenty of creative fan art over the years. This includes imaging other elemental variants of the normally Grass-type Bulbasaur and imagining what the shape-shifting Ditto would look like channeling it.
Fra_aa__’s latest blend of Bulbasaur and Swinub is just another such work, impressively capturing the cute charm of the latterPokemonwhile also including some of the former’s defining traits. It will likely take them a long time to draw Swinub’s fusions with the rest of the ever-growingPokemonline-up, but it will be interesting to see how the tiny Pig Pokemon will look mixed with some of the franchise’s most iconic creatures.
