Summary

One creativePokemonfan has created designs for several new Paradox Pokemon, including designs for the second-stage evolutions of the Gen I starters. With over 1000 Pokemon in the franchise,Nintendo and Game Freak have routinely introduced gimmicksthat put a fresh spin on the older pocket monsters to introduce them to a whole new generation. The sixth generation introduced Mega Evolution, which is a temporary power-up for certain Pokemon, such as Charizard, while the seventh generation established Regional variants with the Alolan forms.

Eventually, with the ninth generation,Pokemon Scarlet and Violetintroduced Paradox Pokemon, a new twist to introduce variants of already established critters. They are divided into two subgroups: ancient, where the Pokemon more resemble prehistoric creatures, and future, where they are sleek and almost look like robots. As thePokemon Scarlet and Violetgames are still ongoing, the list of Paradox Pokemon is relatively small. Still, it features the ancestors and descendants of some powerful legendary Pokemon, such as Suicune and Virizion, respectively.

A user going by the handle moqyyy shared several photos of their designs of Paradox Pokemon along with names for these new forms on thePokemonsubreddit. Notably, the fan artist made designs of Ivysaur, Charmeleon, and Wartortle, with all of them appearing to fall into the ancient category of Paradox Pokemon as they resemble dinosaurs. All three Pokemon share the same color scheme as their originals; however, Charmeleon or Coiled Torch has a flaming wheel at the end of its tail, and Wartortle or Cloudy Shell has fins on its back. Meanwhile, Ivysaur or Blooming Jaw’s pink flower has slightly opened but curled upwards.

Other Pokemon that moqyyy designed Paradox forms for include Primarina, Lokix, Dragapult, and Breloom. The post was well received, with other users complimenting the designs and commenting on their favorite version. A standout was the Paradox form of Primarina called Abyssal Song, with one commenter noting that the design was similar to Scream Tail, the ancient version of Jigglypuff.

Recent credible leaks have revealed that the Gen I starters will return in the upcoming Indigo Disk DLC. However, it is unknown if these returning Pokemon will have Paradox forms. With the introduction of the Paradox forms representing the past and future, some fans are wondering if this is Nintendo’s way of announcinggames that follow thePokemon Legends: Arceusformula.

Whatever the case may be, the creation of Paradox Pokemon serves as an excellent inspiration for fan artists. Some have already begun tocreate designs of their favorite Pokemon, such as a creepy version of Hydreigon. And with so many of the critters already established in thePokemonfranchise, fans will have no end of sources to come up with new Paradox forms.
