Part of what makes many Legendary Pokemon so intimidating is their size which provides a visualization of just how strong these beings actually are. With that being said, this isn’t actually the case with every Legendary Pokemon. There are some, such as Manaphy and Shaymin for example, who are actually very small in stature. On the other hand, there are also Pokemon who have acquired the Legendary title that are among some of the largest creatures in thePokemonuniverse.
While some of these Pokemon are already well known by fans for being gigantic in scale, there are some that might come as a little more of a surprise since we very rarely get an up-close-and-personal look at them in the anime or games. For the sake of consistency, alternate forms such asmega evolutionsor primal variants have been excluded for this list, so only the original size of the Pokemon will be taken into account.

10Ho-Oh (12'06")
Because Ho-Oh is only ever seen flying across the sky from afar, it can be easy to think that this Legendary Fire and Flying Pokemon is no bigger than a Braviary or even Zapdos. The truth is though, it’s actually deceivingly large which just goes to show how much players still don’t know about thisincredibly mysterious Pokemon.
In fact, out of the entire anime, Ash only sees Ho-Oh a grand total of three times. Only inone of the Pokemon movieshas given a much more accurate depiction of the grand scale of this bird which is actually the exact same size as Sandaconda and Xurkitree.

9Palkia (13'09")
Each member of theCreation Triothat appear in theDiamond and Pearlgames are all massive in their stature, but the smallest member of the bunch is actually the governor of space himself, Palkia.

It’s fairly easy to understand how big Palkia is by approaching the Spear Pillar inPokemon Pearl.Palkia shown to be easily standing over the gigantic stone pillars surrounding the arena. In fact, his sprite actually has to be minimized on the battle screen so that players are able to even see him.
8Kyogre (14'09")
Kyogre is undoubtedly the most popular Water-type Legendary Pokemon. InPokemon Sapphire,Team Aquaattempt to use Kyogre’s immense power to raise the sea level in order to create new environments for them to acquire more aquatic Pokemon.
The remake ofPokemon Sapphiredoes a good job at portraying just how large and menacing this Legendary Pokemon truly is, dwarfing any other fish-like Pokemon in the players party. The best chance where fans actually get to see the true scale of Kyogre though is in the ninth movie,Pokemon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea. In this movie, there is a scene where it swims past the gang’s submarine for a few seconds before eventually fleeing.

7Giratina (14'09")
Giratina might just have one of themost unique designsout of any Pokemon. Giratina has a large gray frame with band-like markings stretching up its chest and two bat-like wings sprouting out from its sides that are rarely extended all the way. Honestly though, considering how large its wings actually are, they still add a lot to Giratina’s overall size.
Since Giratina is rumored to reside in the reverse side of thePokemonworld, it’s understandable why it has such a strange and unique appearance. Since Giratina it is tasked with keeping both worlds in perfect balance, its gigantic size perfectly suits the incredibly important role it plays in the universe.

6Zygarde (16'05")
Zygarde is another Pokemon who doesn’t initially seem that large in appearance because it is always seen slouching on its tail, but when standing upright, it’s actually much bigger than many fans realize. Then again, because Zygarde’s motif is that it keeps evolving over time, it makes sense that it would reach this impressive size eventually.

This form, which is usually seen as Zygarde’s standard form and the one encountered in Pokemon X and Y, is actually only his “50% form” which is already the same height as Primal Groudon, so it’s easy to imagine just how intimidating this Pokemon would be when approaching it to commence a battle.
5Lugia (17'01")
After the amazing reception of the firstPokemonmovie, fans were treated to another amazing big-screen adaptation just a year later withPokemon Movie 2000.This time around, the plot centers around the Legendary Psychic and Flying Pokemon, Lugia. In this movie, Lugia helps Ash and the gang stop the villainous Lawrence III from taking control of the Legendary for himself.
There are a few scenes in the movie where viewers actually see Lugia standing alongsideAsh and his friends. Not only that, but Ash actually gets to hop on Lugia’s back and ride him through the sky which helps to demonstrate his size compared to regular humans. It’s fair to say, he’s much bigger than most bird Pokemon.

4Dialga (17'09")
Dialga stands slightly taller than his rival Palkia. Even when walking on all fours as it usually does, the spiky crown-like adornment that covers its head already adds a few more inches onto its overall size, but being this gigantic is only fitting for the lord of time.
This title means that Dialga needs to have a demanding and very eye-catching presence to prove worthy of his position, and it certainly ticks this box, standing over nearly every opponent it faces. This is easiest to see in the 2007 moviePokemon: The Rise of Darkraiwhere Dialga battles Palkia near the end of the movie with the two blowing everyone away just from exchanging physical blows, proving to all spectators that they are among some of the biggest and most fearsome Pokemon to ever exist.

3Yveltal (19'00")
Definitely one of the mostharrowing and dangerous Pokemonif its Pokedex entries are anything to go by. Yveltal is a member of the Aura Trio who has the ability to suck the life out of other creatures in order to enhance its own abilities. Yveltal’s bright red and black appearance actually fits very well with the unique properties and abilities of the Pokemon, with its large nightmarish frame being the last thing many creatures will see before being consumed.
While Yveltal’s Dark moves are certainly nothing to shrug at, this Pokemon excels when using Flying abilities. Moves like Fast Attack Gust and Charged Attack Hurricane will make quick work of enemy Pokemon with ease thanks to Yveltal’s incredibly high attack and special attack stats.

2Rayquaza (23'00")
When looking up popularity polls, Rayquaza is almost always at the very top when it comes to thegeneration three Legendaries, and there are many reasons why this is the case. Not only do fans love how relevant Rayquaza feels to the conflict between Groudon and Kyogre, but his striking appearance has also helped make him one of the most beloved Pokemon in the series.
Rather than having any extra ornaments or parts of its body that help to extend its height, Rayquaza simply just has a long and slender frame that it will often curl around itself to hide its true size. The anime and the games have actually adjusted Rayquaza’s height in a few instances, but one of the best representations of the Pokemon is actually inSuper Smash Bros Brawlwhere it flies across the Kalos Pokemon League stage.

1Eternatus (65'07")
While it’s a fairly recent introduction to thePokemonuniverse, Eternatus is one of the strongest and most threatening Pokemon seen thus far. This colossal Pokemon is the instigator behind the Darkest Day which shook the Galor region to its core 3,000 years before the events ofSword & Shield.
Without counting its Eternamax form which is even bigger, Eternatus is not only the largest Legendary, but also the biggest Pokemon ever. It stretches just over 65 feet which is more than twice as big as Rayquaza, and even bigger than the mighty Wailord. Eternatus actuallycannot be caught the traditional wayand will instead only be obtainable by the player after beating it in battle and reaching the second stage of the fight where it will have a 100% catchable rate.
