The nextPersona 5spin-off titlePersona 5 Tacticais taking the franchise to its next logical genre as a tactical RPG seems like a natural fit for the series' identity. As Atlus continues to produce morePersona 5spin-off games, there is a lot of room to get creative with potential crossover content, including expanding outside thePersonaseries and Atlus games in general. If the developer wants to go this route, theFire Emblemseries is a clear contender for a crossover withPersona 5 Tactica, as it would mesh well with a lot of the elements present in this upcoming spin-off title.

Fire Emblemhas grown the tactical RPG genre within the mainstream and is now one of Nintendo’s most iconic franchises. As such, it would make sense for two massively popular franchises to crossover withPersona 5dipping its toes intoFire Emblem’s tactical RPG territory, and a collaboration between the two series could be mutually beneficial. There is already precedent for crossover between these two franchises, so it’s not out of the question to see some sort of collaboration on another title likePersona 5 Tactica.

A Crossover Between Persona 5 Tactica and Fire Emblem Makes Too Much Sense

Including crossover content withFire EmbleminPersona 5 Tacticawouldn’t be the first time the two series have collaborated as2016’sTokyo Mirage Sessions #FEis an Atlus-developed title that featuresPersona-like gameplay involvingFire Emblemcharacters. While the title seemed like a strange concept at the time, it is very well executed, andPersona 5 Tacticais the perfect chance to reverse roles withFire Emblem-like gameplay featuringPersonacharacters. It would be a nice nod toTokyo Mirage Sessions #FEifPersona 5 Tacticareceived someFire Emblemcontent in the form of DLC to bring this collaboration full circle.

TheFire Emblemseries has been doing a lot in terms of fan service, as its most recent entry,Fire EmblemEngage, featured Emblem Heroes from the series' past. WithFire Emblem Engagepulling heroes like Marth, Ike, Lyn, and Corrin from their respective home worlds into this new world as Emblems, it stands to reason that these heroes could be pulled into the world ofPersona 5 Tacticaas well. Going this route may throw a wrench into thecanon ofPersona 5, but the fan service opportunity and potential gameplay implications are too great to pass up.

One new mechanic ofPersona 5 Tacticais the Triple Threat attack, which can occur when three allies are triangulated around a downed enemy. This type of system could fit right in withFire Emblem’s weapon trianglesystem, with each weapon type corresponding to a specific elemental weakness fromPersona, allowing for similar type trump-style gameplay.Fire Emblemcharacters could also function similarly to how they do inTokyo Mirage Sessions #FE,being summonable as special Personas on specificFire Emblem-themed stages as a part of a DLC storyline separate from the main game.

Both being tactical RPGs is already a great reason to havePersona 5 Tacticacross over withFire Emblem, but the fact that the two series have the shared history ofTokyo Mirage Sessions #FEmakes another collaboration between Atlus and Nintendo all the more likely. WithPersona 3 Reloadseemingly skipping a Switch release,Persona 5 Tacticacould make up for this by adding special Nintendo-themed content exclusive to the Switch version. Not only would this help easePersonafan frustration with missing out onPersona 3 Reload, but it also would giveFire Emblemfans a reason to check out a series they may be unfamiliar with.

Persona 5 Tacticais set to release on November 17th for Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
