The most common meme of all is a comparison to Maui from the Disney movieMoana, with funny images seeing Mauga’s turrets placed over Maui’s hands and fans demanding voice lines based on the things Maui said during the film. However, though an officialMoanacrossover where Mauga gets a makeover to look even more like the Hawaiian Trickster would be fun, Blizzard could look to the entirety of Disney’s films if it wanted an almost endless amount of crossover cosmetics.

With so many beloved characters under the Disney banner, it is easy to think about potential skins for the game’s heroes. Starting with the Tank role, Wrecking Ball as the blue alien Stitch immediately comes to mind, especially if his ball-shaped mech is reskinned to look like Experiment 626’s red ship. Making the oldestOverwatch 2hero Sigmalook like Carl fromUpwould be entertaining, while Junker Queen’s size makes her a natural fit for a skin based onEncanto’s Luisa. Zarya could make a fun Ursula despite having a much different body type from whatThe Little Mermaidvillain usually has, and Winston is practically begging to become the latter ofBeauty and the Beast’s two titular characters.
The possibilities extend to Damage heroes, with the outlaws Cassidy and Ashe being perfect for Woody and Jessie fromToy Story. Robin Hood Hanzo and Buzz Lightyear Soldier: 76 feel like natural fits, while Jasmine Symmetra would be phenomenal. Mei could be perfect for a skin based onTurning Red’s Mei Lee, while Widowmaker Rapunzel and Vanellope Tracer seem like fun options. For Supports, Ariel Brigitte, Mulan Kiriko, and Tinker Bell Mercy would all be adorable, while Moana Illari could be added to go alongside Maui Mauga. Though Moira has basically gotten aMaleficentskin already via her WickedOverwatch Leaguelook, a hilarious design could see her being made to look like Yzma fromEmperor’s New Groove.
AnOverwatch 2Disney collaboration would not need to be limited to just skins for the game’s heroes. Victory poses, highlight intros, and emotes could be used to recreate the best moments fromDisney films, while cute side characters likeMoana’s pig Pua, Cogsworth fromBeauty and the Beast,The Little Mermaid’s Flounder, and so on would make ideal weapon charms.
An Overwatch 2 Disney Team-Up Could Go Beyond Animation
Overwatch 2’s Disney skins could also embrace the world of live action for additional opportunities. Sojourn could get a skin based on Halle Bailey’s Ariel, while Cruella’s various looks from her solo movie could make for some fun Ashe skins. Beyond just the live action remakes, Disney’s ownership of Star Wars and Marvel means thatOverwatch 2would have some of the most popular film franchises of all time to dive into if it partnered with the company. Whether it isGenji wielding a lightsaberin place of his Dragonblade or Doomfist getting the Thanos skin he has always deserved, the list of hypothetical crossover cosmetics could go on and on.
