Coinciding withOverwatch 2’s third Season,Loverwatchwill be an online browser game that lets players choose from two iconicOverwatchcharacters and attempt to romance them. What Is Overwatch 2’s Loverwatch Game Mode?
Loverwatchis an online dating simulator that will be playable simply through a browser. Fans will be able to playLoverwatchfrom February 13 to February 28, and the general gameplay will see players either try and pursueMercy or Genji, with Hanzo taking on the role of Cupid, guiding the player on their journey. Blizzard has confirmed thatLoverwatchwill be a fairly short experience, lasting around just 30 minutes, though if fans play through both paths and achieve the secret ending they’ll unlock an exclusive Highlight Intro forOverwatch 2.
In the announcement forLoverwatch, Blizzard made it expressly clear that this game is not canon, and anything players see or do in the game won’t have consequences inOverwatch 2’s in-game universe and story. That should be expected from a fun little side project like this, but it’s still important to highlight. Even if it’s not canon,Loverwatchmarks a fun departure from Blizzard’s usual contributions to theOverwatchfranchise, and fans are responding pretty well to the announcement, with some even wishing that the experience was even more fleshed out with more romantic options.
ThisLoverwatchonline game ties in directly withtheOverwatch 2Season 3 update. Coming to the game on February 7,Overwatch 2’s third Season adds a whole slew of new content to the game, from new maps to new skins. But one of the big highlights this time around is all ofOverwatch 2’s new Valentine’s Day content. Along withLoverwatch, players will have access to a new 4v4 limited-time game mode that sees teams of Hanzos face off against one another. Hanzo is also receiving a unique Cupid-themed Legendary skin, and a whole host of support challenges will be available, allowing players to complete the Battle Pass at a faster rate. Unfortunately, this content won’t be available right away, with players having to wait until the big day itself, February 14, before they can hop into the new game mode and complete its respective challenges.
Limited-time holiday events are nothing new to theOverwatchfranchise, with Halloween, Christmas, and more all getting their own respective limited-time modes, skins, and challenges. Still, it is nice to see Blizzard go out of its way to include a wealth of new content for Valentine’s Day, which isn’t often considered one of the bigger annual holidays. And as far as limited-time events go,Overwatch 2’s Valentine’s Day offerings look surprisingly great, with a Legendary skin, exclusive mode, unique challenges, two Epic skins, and of course a whole dating simulator spin-off experience all being available. Blizzard has ensured that no one who playsOverwatch 2will be lonely this Valentine’s Day.
Overwatch 2is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
