AnOverwatch 2player is able to find something of a temporary workaround to Blizzard’s habit of locking new heroes behind the battle pass, using Echo to pull off an amazing play as Ramattra before even owning the new character for themselves. Fans ofOverwatch 2haven’t been pleased about the developers' decision to lock newly-added heroes, with Ramattra only available to players who either purchase the premium battle pass, or reach level 45 on the free version.
Introduced toOverwatch 2’s growing hero pool with the launch of Season 2, Ramattra is a powerful Omnic tank character and the game’s newest hero. He was first announced in November during the Overwatch League Grand Finals event, which featured his origin story detailing his history as an Omnic monk prior to him becoming the founder of Null Sector. As the game’s first season drew to a close, the reveal of Ramattra’s awesome abilities got fans warmed up for Season 2 and the plethora of new content that came with it, showing off his capabilities asOverwatch 2’s very first “tempo tank” which is defined by Ramattra’s ability to switch between two different forms in battle. In his Omnic form, Ramattra wields his Void Accelerator staff, which allows him to create barriers and fire nanite projectiles with no damage falloff. In his mighty Nemesis form, Ramattra can block damage, gaining extra armor while dishing out massive punches.

A clip shared on Reddit by the user SquirtailPlays shows the moment that they clear a point as Ramattra before unlocking him from the battle pass. Playing as Echo on Nepal, the player uses their Ultimate Ability, Duplicate, to temporarily mimic the character used by the enemy tank – in this case, Ramattra. Asany experiencedOverwatch 2players will know, Echo’s versatile Ultimate Ability allows her to become any hero in the game for a short time as long as that hero is being used by another player in the lobby, and this includes newly-added heroes too. Complete with every one of Ramattra’s capabilities and even copying some of his dialogue, Echo is able to use Ramattra’s Nemesis form and Annihilation Ultimate against the enemy team and push them off the point.
Funnily enough, the carnage caused by the player during their copying of Ramattra actually met the requirements tounlock one of Ramattra’s achievements, which the player was able to obtain before owning the character himself.
Community opinions regarding Ramattra and his abilities so far appear to be fairly divided, with some players claiming that he’s already overpowered in some respects while others argue that his abilities are underwhelming, making him a throw pick in competitive matches. A more widely agreed-upon stance, however, is the opinion thatnew heroes inOverwatch 2should be immediately unlockable for all players for free, with many fans continuing to urge the developers to make this a reality.
Overwatch 2is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
