A fan has taken it upon themselves to update the currentOverwatch 2post-match screen. The conceptual new post-match screen draws from criticism the fanbase has leveled againstOverwatch 2’s current UI.
With Season 3 ofOverwatch 2fast approaching, fans are making their wishlists for changes they would like to see come to the game. Season 2 brought much-needed stability to the game in addition to adding a new hero, map, and limited-time game mode. Since the early November bug which forced Mei to be temporarily removed from the game, Blizzard has been hard at work gettingOverwatch 2up to the polished standard of the original. WhileOverwatch 2still faces its issues, many of which fans are quick to point out, there is optimism surrounding the release of Season 3 and what it means for the overall health of the game.

Reddit user gio_diamondy highlightedcurrent issues withOverwatch 2’s UI by creating a quick mockup of how they would fix the game’s post-match screen. Post-game player cards, a unique aspect of the originalOverwatchwhere the most impressive individual stats from the match were displayed and voted on, is brought back in gio_diamondy’s concept. With a clean and minimalist aesthetic, the player cards are back, allowing players who had a great match to show off and get a little well-won praise. Below the player cards is a no-nonsense XP bar with a display for daily quests and rewards at the bottom of the screen. The design harkens back to something Blizzard decided to do away with to the chagrin of some fans.
The sentiment surrounding gio_diamondy’s post was overwhelmingly positive. Many commenters expressed their nostalgia forOverwatch’splayer card and on-fire systems. The notedomissions of these UI mechanics fromOverwatch 2seemed to be an attempt to disincentivize celebrating individual performance in favor of team performance. Whether that change in design philosophy has noticeably cut down on toxic behavior is uncertain, but for many players, those mechanics added motivation to play their best game, as well as making the post-game experience more satisfying by being able to give or receive props.
It remains possible that with the fluid nature of live-service games,Overwatch 2in its current form may look massively different by the end of 2023. Hopefully, Blizzard is actively monitoring feedback and making impactful changes and additions. While some fans still feel spurned by theshift in UI and gameplay fromOverwatch, most would be more than willing to come back to the game if their demands are met.
Overwatch 2is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
