This news emerges as an exciting development for those who have been waiting for a long time for the physical release of the game.

Recently, iam8bit announced that the Collector’s Edition of developer Geometric Interactive’s puzzle gameCocoon, one of thebest-rated indies from 2023, is coming soon for Switch and PS5. Although the game was originally published by Annapurna Interactive, its forthcoming edition will be published by iam8bit. In addition to that, a vinyl version of the game’s soundtrack has also been revealed. It features a “Classic Black” vinyl containing music byCocooncomposer Jakob Schmid.
Cocoon Collector’s Edition Specifications
The Collector’s Edition ofCocooncontains a physical copy of the game and a bunch of merchandise. This includes art pieces, such as exclusive cover art, an 11x17-inch double-sided poster showcasing original art, and five orb art cards. Additionally, the set also comes with a combo of a 3-inch laser-etched crystal orb light and an activator pedestal. While the Collector’s Edition is priced at $74.99 USD, the vinyl edition of the game’s soundtrack has a price tag of $32.99 USD. Both the Collector’s Edition and the vinyl record are scheduled to be up for pre-orders starting from May 23, 9 AM PT. According to iam8bit’s website, similar to the Collector’s Edition, the vinyl currently also has a targeted release window of Q4 2024.
Given the award-laden successful run ofCocoon, it seems only natural for the game to eventually spawn a collector’s edition. The well-received approach to puzzles thatCocoontakes is an evolution from those featured in certain other popular indie puzzle games. That’s becauseCocoonis the latest game by director Jeppe Carlsen, who was also the designer behind the highly rated puzzle titles Limbo and Inside.
Moreover, the soundtrack ofCocoon, which has been fully constructed using synthetic sounds instead of recorded sounds, is also something that stands out. Schmid’s music, which is nearly a constant presence throughout the game, adds a layer of immersion toCocoon’s surreal microscopic world.
