The Thanksgiving event is back inNew Worldthanks to the 1.7.2 update, rewarding players for taking on the giant turkey world boss Turkulon as well as giving them a chance to earn rewards from Aeternum’s regular turkeys. AlongsideNew World’s limited-time seasonal event are the usual collection of bug fixes, balance changes, and quality-of-life additions.
Amazon Games' first big step into the gaming industry was highly anticipated leading up to its release, promising a next-gen immersive MMORPG for players to get lost in. Despite a massive amount of players at launch, the game was met with mixed reviews due to bugs, performance issues, and little to do in the endgame, leading toNew World’s player countdropping sharply. Amazon hasn’t given up, however, and the game has enjoyed a steady pace of major updates that have made substantial improvements in all areas. From free expansions to new weapons and completely reworked systems,New Worldhas come a long way and is starting to rebuild its reputation.

The latestNew Worldupdatehas brought back the Turkulon Thanksgiving event, with some improvements thanks to feedback from last year’s run. Until December 6, players may challenge the Turkulon world boss, a comically oversized turkey. Turkulon even has its own lore: Long ago, a farmer needed 100 turkeys to feed their settlement at a holiday feast. To meet the deadline, he tried placing his prized turkey in an ancient device, which supersized the bird. Turkulon now roams the land seeking vengeance on behalf of its turkey brethren who have been sacrificed for holiday festivities.
Like otherNew Worldholiday events, players who participate can earn a variety of themed seasonal rewards unique to this event. Turkulon itself has a chance of dropping the Feat-O-Plenty Food Trophy among other things, which can be placed in the player’s house to permanently increase the duration of food effects. Turkulon can be found in Everfall, Brightwood, Mourningdale, Restless Shore, Windward, Monarch’s Bluffs, First Light, and Cutlass Keys, and players must deal a minimum amount of damage to be eligible for rewards. Regular turkeys have a chance to drop the Turkulon’s Claw skinning knife, which will disappear once the event has ended.
Although this isn’t as major of an update asNew World’s Brimstone Sands expansion, Update 1.7.2 still makes a few important changes. Of particular note, the Apparatus and Barbed Netting upgrades in the Blunderbuss tree have been re-enabled, and the experience earned from Rumble on the Docks, The Captain’s Arrival, and Sneed’s Revenge have been reduced to be more in line with other content at that level.
