The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrimis not only a long-standing game, one of the biggest RPG franchises in history, and a title that has been modded so much, it’s something that has become a part of gaming culture in general. With a very famous video game one-liner, thewell-known “arrow to the knee” quote, it’s become something of a meme over the years, and is still going strong after more than a decade. Given the replay value of it, it’s actually quite surprising that no one has considered adding to one key aspect of the game.

Uploading the file to NexusMods, user Keysmash2b has looked at the “shouts” ofSkyrim, the powerful voice attacks that utilize words from the Dragon tongue, and has decided that the game needed more of them, 19 more to be specific. But these aren’t just new shouts added in arbitrarily. It looks as though the modder has actually seen to it that each one relates to theElder Scrollslore, including some that herald fromThe Elder Scrolls Online.

The list of new shouts, which are calledthe Thu’um inSkyrim, include one that calls a frost, fire, or storm Atronach, one that can open a door or chest up to a certain skill level, or one that generates a fog to allow the player to sneak on by. Each one is located on a word wall, which is traditionally where the official shouts are learned in-game. Keysmash2b has even been so kind as to add a list of all the locations, which can be seen on the mod page itself. Naturally, the list of locations, and list of each shout’s name, come with spoiler warnings.

There are alreadysome interesting shouts inSkyrim, which do powerful things. This new mod simply adds more to the world in a game that is still being played by millions despite it being released in 2011. It shows that there are still things that can be discovered in Tamriel, and for those players who feel like they’ve seen everything in the vanilla game, there are plenty of mods and add-ons that expand the world.

WithElder Scrolls 6still apparently in pre-production, it’s going to be a long time until the fans see a new title in the series. As annoying as that may be, it’s good to know that the likes ofSkyrim, and previous releases, accommodate a creative community that is eager to keep adding new things and to keep improving the format in some way.
