Earlier today, Nintendo and The Pokemon Company shocked fans the world over whenNew Pokemon Snapwas announced for the Nintendo Switch. Nintendo hasn’t released a newPokemon Snapgame since the original launched in 1999 for the Nintendo 64, and so theannouncement ofNew Pokemon Snaphas been met with an overwhelmingly positive response by thePokemoncommunity. Shortly after the announcement, Nintendo set up aNew Pokemon Snapofficial website, showing off some screenshots of the upcoming game.

TheNew Pokemon Snapscreenshots reaffirm some details about the upcoming game. Namely, that it will feature a variety of Pokemon from across all of the generations, with numerous Pokemon shown off in the screenshots. The images also show thatNew Pokemon Snapwill have a variety of locations for players to explore, including wooded areas and open water, with the appropriate Pokemon spawning in each place.

Similarly to the originalPokemon Snapgame, it seemsNew Pokemon Snapwill challenge players to take photos of the Pokemon at just the right moment, like when they are doing a pose or performing an attack. This can be seen in the screenshot ofMagikarpsplashing out of the water, with the photographer snapping a photo of the fish Pokemon in mid-air.

Beyond what fans can learn from these screenshots, not much else is known aboutNew Pokemon Snap. Nintendo has not confirmed a release date or even a release window for the new game, so fans have no idea when they will get to play. Nintendo also stopped short of providing a deep-dive into what theNew Pokemon Snapgameplaywill entail, and so fans will have to wait a bit for a more thorough reveal.

Rumor has it that the project is none other thanPokemon Let’s Go GoldandLet’s Go Silver, but that’s just speculation at the time of this writing.
