Fast Xis approaching its May release date. Besides the action-packed trailer that premiered last month, fans of the franchise can now be fully briefed on Dominic Toretto’s new mission, as both the movie’s official synopsis and a new poster went up online.

TheFast and Furioussaga will head into its penultimate entry with a fearsomevillain played by Jason Momoa, whose origins date back toFast Five. In the preview, Dom and Letty enjoy their new lives until Dante barges in to threaten his family and friends. Like anyFast and Furiousfilm, the first teaser focuses on the stunts, yet it closes off with a cautionary message that may hint at one of the crew members not making out of this one.

According to theFast Xofficial website, despite overcoming “many missions and against impossible odds,” Dom and company are about to face their most lethal enemy ever, a blast from the past, drug lord Hernan Reyes' son, Dante. Per the description, Dante was always standing in the background, watching how theFast and Furiousgang took down his father’s empire in Rio de Janeiro, and he’s “spent the last 12 years masterminding a plan to make Dom pay the ultimate price.” Along with the synopsis, the Fast X poster puts Dom front and center, flanked by Momoa and Charlize Theron, who will be the two main threats he’ll have to face.

The lower part of the image features the starting grid of a race in Rio, where the giant Cristo Redentor statue gives away one of the many locationsFast Xwill visit. The movie is also set to take the crew to places like Rome, London, Portugal, and even Antarctica, aside from their native Los Angeles. With so many places on the list, it’s no wonderFast Xwill be one of the most expensive moviesever, with a $350 million budget.

Movie tickets forFast Xare already available at the movie’s site, slightly more than two months away from its premiere, perhaps suggesting Universal expects the film todo even better than 2021’sF9, which was still dealing with decreased audiences due to the pandemic’s fallout. So far,Furious 7andThe Fate of the Furioushave been the most successful sequels in the series, with the first generating $1.516 billion in revenue thatFastX will look to beat.

Besides Ezra Miller’sThe Flash,Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One, andGuardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, few movies stand a chance of cracking that coveted billion-dollar milestone, soFast Xcould indeed be one of the biggest films in 2023.
